no one at east coast tsunami has ever eaten hummus

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 12:53 PM

It's never been a better time not to live in Reading, PA!

In all seriousness, those poor people. All my prays.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 12:54 PM

It's ok, 12:54. No one cares that you're staying cooped up in your wittle trendy WB tiny-ass apartment with fake art.

Some awesome top bands there: Biohazard, Cro-Mags, VOD + SOIA, Agnostic Front, Madball

Looks like SOIA switched places from the CBGB fest, lol!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:01 PM

Reading has buildings >3 stories? Whoda thunk.

Anyway, the collective IQ is gonna drop about 50 points that weekend. Maybe they can get some federal grant money as a result.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:03 PM

Poor Reading. Can you imagine the cavalcade of retards that are heading their way?

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:03 PM

AH, it's the assclown Buckeye Shrimper 1:01, right on schedule. Gonna break it down, keep it real, NYCHC style. Fucking moron.

Explains a lot.

Time for a new straw Shrimpy, I think you're not getting enough oxygen to your brain.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:04 PM

The only people in Brooklyn who care about this are townies who didn't go to college.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:06 PM

your mom goes to college!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:10 PM

1:04 reads comic books.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:15 PM

1:15 shrimps with a short straw

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:18 PM

think they'll be a fight?

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:18 PM

I wasn't allowed to go to Airport Music Hall.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:20 PM

no 101. these are not awesome bands. they are not musicians and are talentless

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:20 PM

There will be a strict no stabbings policy at this festival.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:22 PM

Godspeed Reading, PA

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:23 PM

I bet that dude is proud and feels real cool to have that shit all over him.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:28 PM

What are the odds of getting stabbed at this show? ><

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:32 PM

ayo...East Coast Tsunami....fuggedaboutit

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:35 PM

Will this fest have more attendees with criminal records or college degrees?

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:40 PM

Lulzy + Shrimpboat 4EVA

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 1:41 PM

@1:20 Hmm, then how come Agnostic Front has been playing music for 30 years and Sick of it All for 25? Come back in 25 years and see if Feist and Crystal Castles are still around.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:08 PM

Yo Im 35 and I'm gonna go release some anger cause I still live with my mom. Bring the pain bitches!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:08 PM

Reading will bring the pain. That neighborhood is cray cray.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:19 PM

some sweet meltdowns in these comments!

2:08 has tasted his dad's cawk. that is all.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:21 PM

Ah, better than the emo fest they have in NJ with that stupid fucking Bamboozle.

Though, no Cloud Nothings?

For some weird reason, I expected them to play this ha.

For one, I was even shocked that Bethlehem, PA had a music fest this year lol. PA's got Philly and Pitt but they're too far away.

Gotta love Brooklyn for its shows.

Posted by Sam | August 1, 2012 2:21 PM

How did I ever as a teen ager think these bands were cool. They all yell like gorillas on stage and the songs all sound the same. You leave every show/ concert with bruises after screaming brother hood with a bunch of sweaty guys with their shirts off. I guess dubstep is the new hardcore.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:29 PM

moshages

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:30 PM

There will be skateboard parking next to the nurse's station.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:31 PM

Bethlehem always had Musikfest. Brooklyn is good but it doesn't have anything on LVHC.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:31 PM

the reading and PA skins are gonna have a fuckin field day!!

Posted by B | August 1, 2012 2:34 PM

How far is Reading from the Jersey Shore?

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:38 PM

"some sweet meltdowns in these comments!

Gotta love how loser trendies try and project and make it look like any fans of metal or hardcore are the ones getting angry. Meanwhile ya gotta wonder why all the metal or hardcore threads have 100+ comments. And most of them are trendy faggots getting riled up and frothing at the mouth whenever someone responds to them. "steamed sausage"? Ha! More like "flaming scarf". Grrrr...

"2:08 has tasted his dad's cawk. that is all."

And yet you can't argue properly back, 'cause you know you ain't gonna see Hot Chip, Passion Pit or Sleigh Bells in that much further time.

Or you're just miffed from that gay prostitute solicitation with Mandingo going horribly wrong. I hope your asshole feels better soon :(

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:43 PM

2:43 really has zero sense of self awareness. And that is really the gateway to understanding others as well. Oh well, I love to see how oblivious he is when he posts, kind of like the guy that doesn't get that the joke is on him and it just snowballs from there as the hijinks ratchet up. Always a yukfest like that when this genius posts.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:50 PM

2:50 LULZ, just LULZ, just LULZ. Did I mention LULZ, because that's how I feel. I feel LULZ.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:58 PM

p.s. - lulz.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 2:59 PM

2:50: Token "I lose" denial post.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 3:05 PM

I love it when my observations get unwittingly validated by a schlemozzle

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 3:06 PM

nice one 3:06

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 3:22 PM

That photo is exhibit A of why all you 20 somethings should think twice about getting tats. You might think they look cool on your young skin, but at some point you will be in your 40s . . . .

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 3:26 PM

Definately going to be some nazis, confused that OLC are racist wiggers.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 3:50 PM

OLC at a hardcore festival. yeah how progressive and positive.. fn joke.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 4:40 PM

"That photo is exhibit A of why all you 20 somethings should think twice about getting tats. You might think they look cool on your young skin, but at some point you will be in your 40s . . . ."

well, I may not be decorated like the AF guy in the photo, but guess what? I'll worry about being in my 20s for right now, thankyouverymuch

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 4:44 PM

"well, I may not be decorated like the AF guy in the photo"

LULZ
Yeah, decorated like a fruitcake. Sounds about right.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 4:47 PM

"decorated" haha

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 4:53 PM

Oh yeah? Fruitcake?!! Come meet me and I'll bend you over and show you how much of a fruitcake I.. oops. Never mind.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 4:59 PM

@2:21 How is it a meltdown to mention that several of these bands have been playing 25+ years? I'm just stating a fact. A lot of hardcore is crap, but some of it is good. Maybe it's not your thing...but for someone to say this "is not music" or they are "talentless" doesn't know anything about music.

There are lots of bands and styles I don't like, but it is still music in the end.

Again, I would love to see where all the trendy bands that many BV readers listen to wind up in a few years. I can guarantee most of them will not be around.

As far as the cock comment. I can assure you I have not. I really don't get the gay insult thing on this site. Do you guys think boxers are gay because they fight other guys that are sweaty. Hardcore may look like an erotic thing to you closeted pansies, but it's really not.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 5:11 PM

I love this imbecilic all-or-nothing thinking that HC fans filter the world through. Either you are a HC fan, or you're "trendy". So, not only is it like some inbred us-against-them hillbilly bullshit (defending your rusting trailer in the woods with a .22 and a pickaxe) but it shows once again how cloistering your life away from the remainder of humanity just warps your perception of good/bad, right/wrong, wise/unwise, heterosexuality/homosexuality, etc. Dat sure do explain a whole lot dere!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 5:21 PM

Wiggas gonna wig

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 5:28 PM

Interesting...this could possibly warrant getting a pair of plugs and grabbing the EZ pass. Does anyone know any good B&B's in the Reading, PA area? The specter of violence looms large though...what to do, what to do...

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 5:37 PM

@5:21 Nope. You got my argument all wrong. You are the ones pigeonholing the whole genre, calling it stupid, its fans hillbillies, and saying we are fags.

I like an incredibly broad range of music, but hardcore (and metal) is something I still listen to and enjoy, but again, not all of it.

I am just pointing out it is always the people on here who probably listen to bands that will be popular for a few years and then will disappear forever who throw stones at hardcore, when some hardcore bands have lasted 25-30 years.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 5:43 PM

You can almost hear the knuckles dragging...

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 5:44 PM

5:43 - Here's a novel idea ... like what you like, and ignore the hate? Mean to say that if you are truly a non-conformist, it shouldn't matter one bit what some "trendy" would have to say about a band you like. So live and let live, and the problem goes away.

Amirite

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 5:57 PM

I haven't heard the word "trendy" since high school.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 6:00 PM

Do you think C-Town will give D the weekend off?

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 6:05 PM

there are going to be a ton of nazis at this.

also biohazard fucking suck. punishment is kind of hard, but that's pretty much it.

also, one life crew. Really?

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 6:08 PM

Still waiting.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 6:13 PM

208-just because they have been playing for 25 or 30 years does not make them talented musicians. most music is shit. always has been and always will be.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 7:08 PM

Dear Reading,

Sorry.

Sincerly,

NYC

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 7:22 PM

Dear you,
Suck it.
Me

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 7:53 PM

The only fest in PA worth travelling to is This is Hardcore. Speaking of which, I dont know why Sick of It All hasnt played it by now. They really should.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 8:19 PM

My first show was Biohazard in Reading in 1992

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 8:23 PM

^ Saddest comment ever. Dude, I'm sorry. Even for Biohazard that was two years past their prime... and they were lame in their prime.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 9:28 PM

@7:08 I agree, but anybody who really knows music realizes that in every genre there are bands that are good musicians, despite that not being someone's favorite type of music. I'm not a fan of Megadeth, but Dave Mustaine is a talented guitarist. There are many hardcore bands with talented players, the idiots on here just don't know anything about the genre or listened to it for 2 years in high school and then went emo and cried to their girlfriend like a bitch.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 9:56 PM

"LULZ
Yeah, decorated like a fruitcake. Sounds about right."

Sorry to hear that. You know, with you being decorated like a fruitcake and all. Except it's not body art (you got "fruitcake" from that? looks nothing like one) that you have, it's twerpy looking faggoty colored scarves and other foppy apparel you wear.

Um, lulz. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 10:03 PM

956-i agree with you as well!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 10:05 PM

LULZ yes 10:03, you are a fruitcake! the Fabulous Flamer Fruitcake! So free to be open and out I'm sure. But it's OK Fab Flamey Fruitypus, I'll still hate you faggot or not.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 10:42 PM

@5:21. It is obvious that a vast majority of Brooklyn Vegan readers are young 20 somethings who are into trendy indie music. The fact that the metal/hardcore threads have the most comments can only bring one to the obvious conclusion that the hate is coming from a bunch of little butt-hurt 20 something sissy indie fags who got beat up by the neanderthals and jocks in high school. Stop being little anonymous internet smart guys and just like what you like. I gaurantee metal/hardcore fans dont comment on the Best Coast threads. Get over the fact that your girlfriend secretly would LOVE to be hate-fucked by all these guys you make fun of. You little sensitive sissy mary.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 5:34 AM

" It is obvious that a vast majority of Brooklyn Vegan readers are young 20 somethings who are into trendy indie music"

Proof? I don't buy that.

"fact that the metal/hardcore threads have the most comments"

That is not a fact at all. I think that you need to do a little BV research and report back. Metal/HC threads do get a lot of comments, but so do Radiohead, LCD, Friends, etc. threads. It sounds like you are butthurt and are looking for "evidence" to support your POV.

"hate is coming from a bunch of little butt-hurt 20 something sissy indie fags who got beat up by the neanderthals and jocks in high school"
Whoa, that's a ... leap. I'm sure you're not projecting, but it sure sounds like it.

"Stop being little anonymous internet smart guys and just like what you like"

I agree with this stance, but you are anonymous too mu friend.

"I gaurantee metal/hardcore fans dont comment on the Best Coast threads"

I know for a FACT that your perception is wrong on this. I know for a FACT that at least 2 metal/HC "persons" routinely flame on "20 something sissy indie fags" on these threads, often in the most disgusting and repulsive manner. Who started the fight? who knows, and at this point does it matter? The fact is that both sides are to blame now. So, there are no victims here.

"Get over the fact that your girlfriend secretly would LOVE to be hate-fucked by all these guys you make fun of.

Is it better to have a cheating girlfriend or no girlfriend at all? Just asking. Once again, sure sounds like projection although I'm sure you're just talking.

"You little sensitive sissy mary"

Way to win them over. Maybe next time, you want to make a point using logic and appealing to some form of common good, leave off the insults? Believe it or not, this statement lost the battle for you right here.

OK, normally I charge a bit more for such advice, but it's summer and I sense that you will take it the right way. Have at it.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 6:25 AM

As of right now, Most Popular threads show no correlation between # of comments and whether it is metal/HC. Facts is facts.

Sigur Ros and Perfume Genius played Prospect Park (pics, review, setlist) (158) = NOT METAL/HC

Quicksand Bowery Ballroom tickets on sale today (155) = METAL/HC

hardcore fest East Coast Tsunami announces lineup; The Fest in Gainesville expands theirs (72) = METAL/HC

Matt & Kim ready 'Lightning' and are touring this fall (dates) (55) = NOT METAL/HC

Happy Birthday Jerry Garcia: indie musicians participating in online streaming tribute concert +++ other music celebrations (44) = NOT METAL/HC

Jack White playing Radio City Music Hall (updated dates) (76) = NOT METAL/HC

Hour of 13 welcome new LP, '333' (stream first five tracks) (40) = METAL/HC

Yeasayer launch scavenger hunt for new album stream; Daedelus & Tanlines opening Central Park show (25) = NOT METAL/HC

METAL/HC = 267 comments
NOT METAL/HC = 358 comments

If the city of New York squatted down and took a shit on Reading it would be this festival.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 8:29 AM

Reading is only as good as Baltic unless you get the other 3 railroads.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 9:23 AM

Is this anywhere near Hershey Park? I went there as a kid and got some sweet-ass chocolate.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 9:50 AM

This fest is what I imagine prison would be like.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 9:57 AM

You're all idiots

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 8:47 PM

I wish they had something like The Fest in my area. It always seems my area missing on the best festivals. I guess I'm just going to have travel now.
