Stephen Colbert

Last night Stephen Colbert, in an effort not to be outdone by Coachella and their impending expansion into cruise lines, announced the second edition of his own music series will also be on a boat...though not one of those sissy luxury liners. Only the most American of vessels can contain Colbert, that's why you can look forward to the StePhest Colbchella '012 aboard the Intrepid aircraft carrier on August 10th.

Don't worry, Colbert is hip to all of the cool bands ("like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, those guys are great"), so you can get excited for appearances from The Flaming Lips (who recently played Firefly), Grizzly Bear (who have a new LP on the way), Santigold (who plays Fun Fun Fun Fest this year in Austin), Grandmaster Flash and Billboard Singles Chart toppers Fun, and will be FREE/open to the public, though tickets are required (available via the Colbert site). Check out the announcement from his show last night below.

Figures this closet queen would book a full hipster lineup. Could have called that one in the air.

Colbert needs to just come out already, fuck it's not like the WORLD doesn't know already.

So....wear do I get a ticket?

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 11:35 AM

You don't get a ticket as you obviously failed English Grammar class!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 11:39 AM

Yeah, I see no link for tickets on his site. Did see a comment on the video clip of the announcement that the tickets disappeared in a second though.

Yeah, sure 11:34, unlike all those metal sausage dudes up at Saint Vitus Bar that like to pound their sweaty bodies up against other men.

There are no tickets available anymore. BV was late to the party with this one. As soon as Colbert announced it last night a ticket link went up and tix were gone within the hour

Tough luck suckers

11:44 I believe that there is no moratorium on membership to the Friends of Dorothy club. Could it be that Colbert and the sausages can all be gay?

I had no problem sneaking into the Roots and Holdsteady show on the Intrepid. This will be no different

Well, it's not like colbert hasn't already been the master of all things lame, really.

11:44 = butt-hurt touchy hipster
Sorry the guys from Hot Chip denied you a reach around. It gets better with time :(

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 11:58 AM

^ 11:58 ought to know, having received a few reach-arounds in his time

AMIRITE!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 12:08 PM

I think as always this is the same person arguing with himself. Probably the same person as the meme guy. Would it kill BV to ban a few IP addresses?

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 12:12 PM

I checked for tix earlier this morning and there were non available

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 12:17 PM

The guys from Hot Chip wanted to give me a reach around, but their arms were too short a stubby.

Friends of Stephen = Friends of Dorothy

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 12:31 PM

I don't think Colbert is gay. Not that it matters. Would we be debating wether or not he likes badminton? Who gives a fuck.

"...but their arms were too short and stubby."

Just like a bottle of Red Stripe! Hooray Beer!

will trade 4x quicksand for 10x colbchella

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 3:37 PM

tickets actually haven't been released yet, so far only people have won tickets through a twitter giveaway

Posted by Jeremy Wein | August 2, 2012 9:51 AM

where/when the hell can i get tickets for this

Posted by Anonymous | August 3, 2012 5:25 PM

This is such BS. So far he's given away 100 of the 1500 tickets, yet guys on Craiglist will sell you as many as you want at $100. Who knows? It's probably that fraud Stephen making some easy dough on the side.

with bad weather coming on Friday, what is going to happen with this???

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2012 1:19 PM

none of you know what you are talking about. i got 2 tickets on august 2, directly from his website. there was a 'number of tickets left' thing at the top, and there were 390 left when i got mine.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2012 1:39 PM

Pretty sure this is rain or shine

Posted by Rain or Shine | August 9, 2012 12:29 PM

Got 2 tickets today - they keep making more available from time to time

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2012 4:54 PM

this is going to suck in the rain tomorrow

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2012 12:28 AM

they released 300 tickets each night on August 1, 2, and 3 during the Colbert Report (1130pm-12am). They also released 300 each day during random times on August 4th and 5th. They have been releasing short bursts (100 ticket groups) until yesterday which was the last batch I believe. So probably 2,000 tickets out there.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2012 4:05 PM

hmm shall i try to go without a ticket?? hmm?????
