Moon Duo

Moon Duo (Ripley Johnson of Wooden Shjips and Sanae Yamada) are planning to follow up their 2011 LP, Mazes, with a new album, Circles, due out October 2 via Sacred Bones. That’s the trippy cover art above. According to a press release, the album title and many of the songs’ themes come from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s 1841 essay, “Circles,” which discusses perception and centrality, among many other themes. The album’s first single, “Sleepwalker,” a droney rocker drenched in layers of psych and shoegaze (and which also sounds a bit like Suicide), can be downloaded above or streamed below.

Moon Duo will be supporting the album on an extensive international tour this fall, which hits NYC on October 5 at Knitting Factory. Tickets for that show go on sale Saturday (8/11) at 10 AM.

A list of all dates, the song stream, and the album’s tracklist are below.
