Saw the Krautrock Classics show in LA. First half of the gig was an all different line up than this NYC one and some of it was quite interesting and decent. Then Nite Jewel and cronies came up and did a godawful version of Computer World. It was beyond embarrassing. Hope they rehearsed a bit more for this one.

Were they purposefully trying to ruin Kraftwerk songs?

No, they tried to do good, no irony, but sounded really bad.
