Quicksand last night on 'Jimmy Fallon'
Quicksand on Jimmy Fallon

Quicksand played Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night (8/23 early AM), performing "Fazer" and the unaired web exclusive track "Omission" for the crowd. Video of both songs are below.

Quicksand has two sold-out shows scheduled for this week, Friday (8/24) at Bowery Ballroom and Saturday (8/25) at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Both feature support from Italian Horn. The band scoots out to LA to play FYF the following weekend.

If you missed it, FYF recently made some lineup changes to reflect the loss of Baroness and Wild Flag, adding Glass Candy, King Tuff, The Faint (who are hitting the road in the late Fall and reissuing material) The Orwells).

Video is below.

Walter sounds weak. Boo!

Posted by JT | August 23, 2012 10:59 AM

Who's Walter?

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:01 AM

You know. Walter. From Breaking Bad.

Posted by wingwalker77 | August 23, 2012 11:03 AM

Cool cash grab walty

Posted by D | August 23, 2012 11:03 AM

Quicksand is in it for the money. I'm not. My music defines 2012.

Posted by Billy Corgan | August 23, 2012 11:05 AM

Jimmy Fallon is not funny - painful to watch that hour til Quicksand came on. The last guest, that british comic, should punch Jimmy in the mouth and take over his show - that dude was hilarious.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:06 AM

Billy Corgan doesn't play for money. Nope!

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:07 AM

@10:59 Really? I thought it was pretty good. I think it is just trendy to bash a reunited Quicksand.

I saw them 18 years ago at a small club in Providence. Was never a huge fan, but I have to say I liked this a lot.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:11 AM

I liked Tom Capone when he was in BEYOND!!!

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:11 AM

11:06- you were dumb enough to watch the entire show just to see the last 5 mins??

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:12 AM

i liked all those dudes -- sans wally -- when they were in BEYOND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DEEEEEEEEW IIIIITTTTTT!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:15 AM

but doesn't listening to beyond make you an ANCIENT HEAD?

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:22 AM

the thunder... the thunder...

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:25 AM

what the fuck is Italian Horn?

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:27 AM

Musically, they sound great! But Wally is definitely asleep at the wheel here. Better hit some 5 Hour Energy tomorrow, son!

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:27 AM

Is Wally never not stoned?

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:28 AM

That sounded pretty sick. Definitely won't miss these guys at FYF Fest.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:31 AM

Why shouldn't Quicksand cash in if people are willing to pay to see them? They wrote an amazing, classic album (SLIP) and they deserve to earn some $

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 12:00 PM

Is playing Fallon now part of the reunion tour circuit?

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 12:01 PM

I believe the music booker for Fallon show is a late '90s era major label A&R guy. Back when major labels occasionally signed decent bands. The good old days...

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 12:12 PM

Emo garbage. I just lost all respect for you people that like this shit.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 12:14 PM

Walter was probably just tired. Working 9-5 as an accountant followed by a rock show is too much for a 40 year old.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 12:16 PM

12:14 & 12:16 are just jealous that they missed out on all periods of interesting music. I'd be angry and frustrated too if all I had was the shit that's around today.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 12:19 PM

Candlebox.

"Why shouldn't Quicksand cash in if people are willing to pay to see them? They wrote an amazing, classic album (Manic Compression) and they deserve to earn some $"

I agree.

"12:14 & 12:16 are just jealous that they missed out on all periods of interesting music. I'd be angry and frustrated too if all I had was the shit that's around today."

12:16 here. I'm probably older than you! Always loved Quicksand, and I have tickets to see them. Walter just looks like a stiff. Then again, he was the "quiet" one in Gorilla Biscuits.

I don't think the Quicksand reunion is a cash grab. Rival Schools? That was a cash grab from day one.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 12:37 PM

Rival Schools a cash grab? That's, uh, rich.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 12:42 PM

"Then again, he was the "quiet" one in Gorilla Biscuits"

I always found this interesting. Maybe he's always felt more at home with Quicksand than the strictly hardcore GB? You think that may be the case?

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 12:49 PM

Swap Unsane vocals for Maynard from Tool vocals and this is it.

"12:14 & 12:16 are just jealous that they missed out on all periods of interesting music. I'd be angry and frustrated too if all I had was the shit that's around today."

12:14 here. I guarantee that I am older than you, and I find your attempt at superiority and exclusion about as laughable as a child threatening to shoot me with a stick. Nice try, but you lose - your music is shitty and you lack the gravitas to counter otherwise. B'bye.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 12:55 PM

lol they just dropped more bowery tickets - i'm guessing yall were too busy arguing to notice?

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 1:04 PM

Wow! His vocals sound terrible! Where's the passion? Definitely a cash grab. Walter's totally not into it.

Posted by Christopher | August 23, 2012 1:07 PM

walter: the man who never ages

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 1:09 PM

more tickets to Williamsburg show...

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 1:10 PM

11:12 I've never actually watched his show, so I was a little curious as to how he would compare to Letterman/Leno. And, unlike you, I have a job that pays very well; enough to roll in whenever I want. Must suck to wake up at 5:00 am to open up the coffee shop, huh?

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 1:29 PM

11:12 is sulking in the corner.

Ouch.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 1:30 PM

You are all a bunch of fucking losers

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 1:43 PM

Truths we've learned today:
1) The Quicksand shows really are going to suck, because Walter is apparently sleepwalking on stage.
2) There's some old old old old losers on here.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 1:54 PM

Sucks they didnt play thorn in my side and start today - on the show

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 1:55 PM

This was great, saw them 4 times around the Slip era, great band. Hung out with Sergio, real cool mellow dude.Glad to see them back, all you haters can suck an elephant dick.
And FUCK BILLY CORGAN, you haven't made anything relevant since 1993.

Posted by clayton mcmullen | August 23, 2012 1:56 PM

I can guarantee that I am older than any one of you.

Posted by Methusaleh | August 23, 2012 2:03 PM

1:54

I don't think the shows will suck at all. Playing in front of lights and a tv studio audience and playing in a venue with old fans and people who know every single word to every single song is a completely different vibe, feeling and situation.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 2:08 PM

^ I'll give you that.

Posted by 1:54 | August 23, 2012 2:12 PM

Last time Quicksand was on TV:

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 2:44 PM

^ Haha, yeah. The Jon Stewart show was the shit back then! Much better than the Daily Show ever was.

... and check out a blast from the past Julia Campbell at the first few seconds. Awesome.

Those 2 songs were played top-notch.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 3:22 PM

mitt romney is part of reunion

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 3:55 PM

TC is crushing it on Omission. When exactly did Sergio become a lesbian?

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 5:02 PM

Walter is acting too dignified, he needs to put his too-short shorts back on.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 9:42 PM

coolest age 40!

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 9:52 PM

40 is the new 30

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 10:16 PM

1:29- if you have to tell everyone on this site you make a lot of money and can roll in whenever you want then chances are you don't have a lot of money and you roll in when your 19 year old boss tells you to

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 11:28 PM

3 thumbs up to Tom Capone!

No thumbs up on those weak vocals. And what was up with those back up vocals? eww.

They're playing The Lismar Lounge on saturday at 3pm with Raw Deal, Collapse and Bad Trip. Tix are $79.95 + fees.

Posted by opec_sid | August 24, 2012 12:36 AM

the way he sang was lame. what's up with the urban outfitters staff/employee outing behind the stage?

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2012 11:35 PM

Saw them last night at BB ...Def a lot more energy than on Fallon! Of course they weren't the same when I saw them in the early 90's but we all get older people... wish I could go tonight to BK show too.

Posted by Lex | August 25, 2012 1:26 PM

THANK YOU 1:24!

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2012 2:48 PM

Awesome.. Omission sounds even better here than on Slip.. that vocal-only "wait for the bomb drop" was epic. I think Walter's singing is just more sophisticated in this performance.. He's older and more mature now and has done a lot since Quicksand broke up. I saw them in '95 and I've seen him play a few solo acoustic shows in NY. No, it's not hardcore or as aggressive, but maybe a bit evolved or refined. And it was a chance to sing without having to sing over 1000 fans singing along.

A good insight and ideas.. I will use it in my article. You’ve obviously spent a lot of time on this. Congratulations!

Posted by jocuri | August 27, 2012 2:34 PM

I like the idea and the website is fairly easy to use. I do wish that they would review more than the top 20 or so websites in the field. The web is a big place.

Posted by Jocuri Online | September 30, 2012 2:47 PM

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, WHOA. jocuri? You back, man? Your name's a bit different, and you've got a different link. Still, if that's you, boy am I glad you're back! miniclip around now, or no?
