I was not planning on blogging while on vacation here in Saratoga. But news arrived this weekend of the death of guitarist/bassist Jason Noble, and I felt he deserved at least a few words.Rodan/Rachel's/Shipping News member Jason Noble lost his three-year battle with cancer on Saturday (8/4). He was 41. R.I.P. Jason.Jason was the founder of the post-rock band called Rachel's. In fact, initially, he WAS Rachel's. And back in the mid-90s, there was no such thing as "post-rock," but along with Tortoise (in Chicago), Rachel's was one of the trailblazers of an instrumental style that melded rock and classical sounds. If you're a fan of bands like Godspeed! You Black Emperor, or Mogwai, then you're hearing the long-lasting echoes of Jason's work. - [WNYC Soundcheck]

just an age thing. young people should be assholes cuz they are young and need to challenge everything. But in the case above it is simply someone who is young and doesnt know what they are talking about.. so to be expected.
in time they will grow up and learn.... for now they are assholes and they should be

It's a shame he didn't get any recognition. He had more talent than John Coltrane and Mozart put together.

Let's not forget his acting in such classics as Half-Cocked ("Nice haircut, art-fag").
This is sad news - Rodan and Shipping News were a huge part of my youth.
Really unfortunate that I see this news along with all of these asinine, still-live-with-my-parents comments.

Damn sad shit.Great guitar player.R.I.P.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... allowing comments on R.I.P. posts is inviting disrespect for the deceased... BV readers can not be trusted to be civilized. Better to leave the room for paying respects on more appropriate sites.
Just because you teens/early twenty somethings have so much angst because you were too late to be around when innovative, creative, special music like Mr. Noble's, was being created... that's your problem. If it makes you feel better to make rude, inappropriate comments for people who just lost an important friend or musician they respect... then you are truly pathetic. I feel nothing but pity for you... and a lot of concern for the future of our country. I don't trust this generation... really scary.

"nyc needs to be burned to the ground."
Because of some loser trendies, that have terrible ways of indirectly expressing their self-loathing? Fuck 'em. Who's going to care when they go? I mean, seriously, think about it.
