Chicago's post-rock crew Russian Circles' tour with Chelsea Wolfe and Marriages came through NYC this weekend with a show at Meatpacking District's Highline Ballroom on Saturday (8/18). Pictures from that show are in this post. The three bands continue their tour, playing Montreal tonight (8/20).

In other news Chelsea Wolf will release an acoustic album this fall titled Unknown Rooms: A Collection of Acoustic Songs. You can stream "The Way We Used to Be" from it at the bottom of this post and the album will be out October 16.

More pics from Highline Ballroom and the Chelsea Wolfe stream are below.

Great show, all 3 acts. Chick from Marriages was smoking hot on top of it. Met her afterwards, pretty nice person. Russian Circles are scary good live, scary good. The only bummer part was the group of bros that decided to douche-mosh into the respectful crowd. This is why all shows but the ones D and Michael Sosa go to should be 21+.

Agreed, those guys were really aweful. They were in front of me the whole set. Aweful.

Highline Ballroom is a weird place to see shows. It seems a bit too upscale and sterile to see a show like this.

Saw this show in Philly on Friday night. SO awesome!! Can't remember the last show where all 3 acts were that good.

ps - Marriages ruled!! Can't wait to see them again!

12:54: I kinda agree. But I'm not complaining too much. Seen a couple of shows there where it seemed a bit weird too. Still a nice venue, though.

Highline is smaller than Irving Plaza, right? Is it much bigger than the Webster Studio? Seems small, in a good way. Good sight lines, and good sound from all over.

12:11 - I grabbed one of the "bros" and told him to cut that shit out around me. Funny thing is, it worked! I've found that with the weak and impressionable a direct and assertive request is understood and respected. If you let them keep ruining your time, they will keep pushing it.

Squash the mosh! It's tired, lame and for attention starved hipsters.

highline has a shallow floor that is wide. smaller than irving, bigger than studio at webster.

great venue when it's not over crowded

Great show I totally fucking owned it. Me and my buddies were moshing and acting up it was awesome. Bunch of smelly lightweights up front they wouldnt last 5 minutes on the field with coach. Can't wait until Bob Mould in a couple weeks.

1:26: Funny considering "Squash the mosh!" sounds like some "hip" thing most likely a hipster would say, out of all people.

In short, don't like the moshing, steer clear. That is all.

Moshing during intrumental rock is a rookie mistake. Ferociously bang your head like a veteran of the game.

Man do I want a Russian Circles t-shirt. My friends would all be jealous because they love the band and can't find the stores locally.

What an amazing show. If you miss it, then check them out on Youtube. You will love them.
