Splash at Bowery Ballroom, July 2012 (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Splash

As we pointed out in What's Going on Saturday, while Real Estate are headlining Webster Hall tonight (8/11), their former drummer Etienne Duguay's new band, Splash, will be laying down their Ariel-Pink-meets-New-Edition style dance music at Cake Shop (who aren't going anywhere). Also playing, the feeling good about feeling sad sounds of Plastic Flowers, CH-Rom and "Secret Guest."

Cake Shop has had some cool secret guests lately, though usually they provide a clue. Not this time. Any guesses?

Flyer for the show is below.

it's either pb&j, dum dum girls, or fujiya & miyagi - whichever one is in town. or someone worse. those are the only 'famous' acts that the cake shop can pull.

Special guest is Daft Punk. Anyone happen to know what time they're going on?

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2012 1:45 PM

No 1:45, special guest is the iPods, who will be playing several of their diverse tracks.

hehehe i tell bad jokes that annoy people and it makes me laugh

Although I have to admit that both 1:45 and 1:46 made me LOL, their comments are inaccurate. The ipods are actually opening for Daft Punk tonight, but the show will not be at Cake Shop. It will be in Beethoven's bathtub. Ipods on at 9pm, Daft Punk at 11pm. There will be free hummus in between sets.

Let's be real, no respectable good artist would play with this trash. It's going to be some dorky band or person who's only big in their neighborhood of Brooklyn.
