The Drums / Chairlift at Brooklyn Bowl 8/22/2012
The Drums
Chairlift

No strangers to NYC shows this summer, The Drums (last seen opening for Bloc Party at T5) and Chairlift (last seen at House of Vans and then opening for The xx in Staten Island) played a SPIN/Diet Coke-sponsored free show last night (8/22) at Brooklyn Bowl. Pictures from the evening are in this post.

This looks to have been the last U.S. show for The Drums for a while, with only a few dates in Mexico and South America on their 2012 schedule. Chairlift, meanwhile, will be touring throughout the next two months, including two dates with The xx in NYC.

More pics of The Drums and Chairlift, and a list of all remaining tour dates are below.

I just came all over her/his face

Looks like Brooklyn Bowl was heavily penetrated by Spin and Diet Coke. Sad I missed that.

Must've been tough being a scarf in the hot weather.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 3:09 PM

A lot of prick suckers on the stage here.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 3:11 PM

well hopefully both bands get to pay their rents for a couple of months. hope they realize that "its come to this"

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 3:12 PM

was a pretty lame event, imo, but free is free. falty dl was really disappointing, chairlift is good background music and the singer is hot, and the drums flat out suck.

the end.

The bad guy from the original Karate Kid is a singer in a band!?

Posted by AnonHUMMUS | August 23, 2012 3:25 PM

At some point, everybody thinks they're the first person to make the lead singer of the Drums as William Zabka. They are not.

that haircut. that godawful haircut.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 3:40 PM

Spin and BV are somewhat sister companies, no?

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 3:40 PM

I won't lie - I went & bought a Coke & the new issue of Spin after I looked at this.

Posted by streetdude | August 23, 2012 4:24 PM

3:18 - She's not hot...unless you like new age hippy chicks that are way too skinny.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 4:41 PM

Just my opinion but I'd lick her asshole.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 5:08 PM

bet the diet cokes for 5 bucks each.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 5:20 PM

3:32 - No, he looks exactly like Gareth from the UK Office. No question.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 5:47 PM

He looks like the lead singer from ocean blue, or at least has the same towhead bowl cut.

I'd jizz in the singing woman's ear.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 5:53 PM

let's be honest though, there not many jewish girls that look that good.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 6:33 PM

I think we're supposed to be surprised by the amount of advertising and go crazy all over the internet? Anyone feel like doing that? In the end it will sell more cans.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 6:39 PM

"there not many jewish girls that look that good"

That's a pretty broad statement to make. Besides, there are many different types of Jewish girls. Mediterranean (Israeli) girls are way hotter than American Jewish girls (European descendant).

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 6:44 PM

Girls from Hummus eating countries are always good in the sack.
As you alrrady know, those energy giving phyto-nutrients locked with the chickpea are good for hip-thrusting.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 8:18 PM

Caroline Polachek is "part jewish ethinically."

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2012 9:27 PM

Ah, my friends! Let's you and me enjoy a diet coke together, just you and me and all of us! Oh no, wait--bleh! Ew, ew, ew! Oh, my poor mouth!

HAHA this whole event looks like a super-sized serving of fail. I loved the artistic pictures of the Coke bottles though. One more thing ... I'm not sure but I think that this guy might actually be, ya know, (g-a-y)?

Meet and greet with the Drums? I'd rather kill myself.

I'd down know where you guys are so cynical about brand synergy. What about the combination issue of Spin/Urban Outfitters catalog with Best Coast and Wavves on it? That really nailed it.

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2012 12:09 PM

lol @ "brand synergy". get to the back room and get my cling peaches already, I got stuff to do today. c'mon - chop chop!

Man, I absolutely loved reading your blogpost. You have convinced me to subscribe to your blog, but where can I find the RSS feed?

Posted by jocuri | August 28, 2012 1:55 AM

Whenever I listen to The Drums I get this feeling like I'm listening to 80's music. I guess I should be grateful. 80's music is awesome and The Drums are a great band.
