On their way to Bumbershoot, Scottish indie rock royalty (with mouths like sailors) The Vaselines stopped in NYC Thursday night (8/30) for a show at The Bell House with openers Schwervon! (That's their exclamation point, not ours.) Like in recent tours past, Eugene and Frances were augmented by some of Belle & Sebastian, including guitarist Stevie Jackson who worked in a solo show of his own earlier in the week. The Vaselines played a 22 song set, which hit most of the classic plus tracks from 2010's solid comeback, Sex with An X.
More pictures from the show, including one of the setlist, are below.

Why these guys never opened up for Big Freedia is beyond me.

Solid show. Both bands also had some good witty and dirty stage banter. So much better than these new bands that spout out nonsense on-stage to flesh out their meager live show.

that's why i go to shows. for the witty dirty stage banter. fucking imbeciles on this site nowadays.

I go to shows to hope the band shuts up and plays the songs exactly like they sound on their albums and I go on websites to call people imbeciles.

no, because I go to shows to see new self important humorless bands with nothing interesting to say between their terrible boring songs open up their mouths anyway and say a lot of boring unfunny nothing.
But at least I get to see the terrible boring songs and say I'm hip and with it.

If you want people to know that you have no command of vocabulary, use the word "butthurt." Really puts you ahead of the pack.

They said they hated America the last two times they were here. After some bi sexual jokes.
Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2012 6:38 PM
I'm sure they were joking.. they joke a lot..
Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2012 8:28 PM
I saw them 5 times the last time they were in America and never heard them remark about not liking it. Also missed the bisexual jokes. Are you sure you're talking about this band?
