The xx @ Rock Werchter (more by Tim Griffin)
The xx

The xx play a sold-out show at Terminal 5 tonight and if you didn't get tickets but want to see them sooner than later (and smaller than bigger), you might be in luck. The band have just added another NYC date: Monday, August 6 at the 120 year-old Snug Harbor Music Hall in Staten Island (capacity: 686). Tickets for that show (supposedly) go on sale today (8/2) at noon (password = angels) . Good luck!

Check out a video of the band playing a brand new song in LA, along with their full list of tour dates, below.

Staten Island. LOL.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 9:21 AM

That is HILARIOUS. Can't wait to get on the ferry with the mix of the Staten Island working class and the dorks who wear all black and long pants in the summertime.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 9:23 AM

^ha ha..ferry, really..drive you fool!

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 9:25 AM

Staten Island > Camden

Posted by ME | August 2, 2012 10:12 AM

I'm going for the music, but staying for the lack of smug assholes who think they're too good for Staten Island.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 11:21 AM

Smart move. If you want to cut back on scalping, just play at a less desirable place.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 11:31 AM

"I'm going for the music, but staying for the lack of smug assholes who think they're too good for Staten Island."

That's cool, no one wants you in Manhattan or Brooklyn anyways.

Ticketmaster is asking for a promo code - anyone have it/know what it is?

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 12:15 PM

wtf is going on with tm?

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 12:15 PM

To whomever is complaining about Ticketmaster "crashing" you've probably been blocked from the site for activity that looks too much like a scalper bot (especially if you're getting the 403 Forbidden page).

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 12:18 PM

"Ticketmaster is asking for a promo code - anyone have it/know what it is?"

Dude, the password is all over the comments and the original post: ANGELS.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 12:20 PM

promo code is ANGEL, site is down - 1218 is trolling. use the phone. tix still available.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 12:20 PM

what is this bullshit?

Got two for Orch and two for Balc. Who needs a pair?

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 12:23 PM

Was the pw in the original post or added just recently? Where's the RIF truck when you need it?

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 12:30 PM

To the guy that bought 2 pairs...I hope you bought them on different cards. I'm pretty sure the site says anyone with an order of more that 2 tickets will be cancelled.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 12:34 PM

"Why can't more bands come to Staten Island?"

Yeah. If only to piss off the faggoty trendies. Anything like this is a win indeed.

"That's cool, no one wants you in Manhattan or Brooklyn anyways.

- trendy loser with no self-esteem"

Not like ONLY you can do anything about it. What would you do? Slap me with your scarf? LOL!

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 12:46 PM

X >>>>>> The xx

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 8:56 PM

I'm very happy that The xx are going to be on Staten Island. It's going to be a very refreshing change of scenery. Not very often good musicians play there. I wonder what the crowd will look like over there

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2012 11:30 PM

Just bought 2!

Posted by Anonymous | August 3, 2012 2:08 PM

you pompous fucks will take trains all around ny but adding a 30 min ferry ride and a 5 minute walk is too far?

Posted by Anonymous | August 4, 2012 9:12 PM

"Any decent hummus spots out there in Shoalin?"

Think it's BYOP (Bring Yo' Own Pita) dude.

Posted by Anonymous | August 6, 2012 10:38 AM

"King's X is what I'm talkin' about."

NOW we're talkin'. Forget any of the other bands here.

Posted by Anonymous | August 6, 2012 12:08 PM

@10:38 - Sumac has good Mediterranean food and pita.

There's some decent food in the neighborhood

Posted by Anonymous | August 6, 2012 2:53 PM

Show was fantasic!

Posted by Anonymous | August 6, 2012 10:54 PM

I feel strange defending SI, I grew up there and know that it is a place brimming with a Republican leaning voter base. They do revel in their ignorance a bit, but I think it is one of the more harmonious places to live in the city. BTW, it really should be part of NJ, I mean there are three (3) bridges that connect it, and no, most Staten Islanders don't even set foot in the rest of the boroughs, they go to Jersey for most things (shopping, buying gas, beaches.)

Posted by Pelotudo | August 6, 2012 11:04 PM

It's great that this happened, and the Music Hall at Snug Harbor is an awesome venue. Saw Bowie there years back when he did a 5 borough tour. Whoever makes comments about Staten or the Bronx being unworthy of shows is clearly an out of towner holed up in some recently gentrified area of Bk or Manhattan.
I was born and raised in NYC and most natives will go to any of the boroughs for a good experience, be it kegger, art gallery, or rock show. Expand your horizons, take on the whole city....

Posted by pschase | August 7, 2012 3:40 PM

I'm always impressed by the lighting in The xx shows. In some ways I go to their shows live just to see the lighting. Of course I see them live not just for that. It's just part of the show. The effects and the atmosphere are part of what makes The XX music awesome live.

Posted by ontario honey | November 26, 2012 5:51 PM

ew who would even go to the xx concert in Staten Island that island deserves to be burned lol . they need to come to nyc! omg:0

Posted by Anonymous | November 29, 2012 11:09 PM

Staten Islanders have no taste in music! It's always that trendy music playing!!! I wish that in a couple of years bands like the xx will be playing on the radio instead of all those shitty pop singers!
