Turbonegro / the crowd, House of Vans 8/30/2012
Turbonegro
Turbonegro

Jean jackets, lipstick, eye make-up and their forebearers, Turbonegro helped close out House of Vans' last night (8/29) with the help of Doomriders and Night Birds. The show was the final HoV event of the season, yet was a rather sparse affair in attendance. Of course this could not deter the ravenous Turbojugends from bouncing along to favorites like "I Got Erection" and "The Age of Pamparious".

Though the show was a light and fun in temperament, there was a bit of a shadow cast over the event due to the cancellation by Baroness due to the horrific accident in the UK. Get well soon guys.

More pictures and video from House of Vans last night are below, including the Turbonegro setlist.

Turbonegro are corny as balls - about as cool as Scissor Sisters.

Night Birds are excellent - props on the Void shirt.

If you dig Adolescents, Angry Samoans and early AOD, check them out.

Scissor Sisters + Turbonegro tour would be awesome.

That is the opposite of sausage fest. That show needed more dudes!

^ Spoken like a true sausage.

^ Nuh uh! lol, it doesn't matter what else gets posted on this thread!

6:14 wins, FTW, hands down, etc.!

turbo is just a cover band of their own past band at this point

Have never seen such massive obvious underage drinkjng in my life. Under 16 kids with braces having beer wristbands on.

Also, weird combo of ugly cliched dudes mixed with many many hot chicks.

Posted by ME | August 30, 2012 6:34 PM

Heaven to me is being an ugly cliched dude surrounded by many many hot chicks.

THIS IS HOW THE NEGROES PARTY!

How was attendance "sparse" when the place was fucking full and there was still a line outside?

Do you even understand what words mean?

Tony sounds great! Hail TN.

Turbonegro have become a poor tribute band of themselves.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2012 10:23 PM

Welcome to the Turbonegrohood Brooklyn..oops typo.

really was a great show though. out of the 6 shows I have seen there this was probably the best I have seen at HOV so far.

serious question:
what guitar is the doomrider singer playing? it looks nice

Posted by hardline warrior | August 31, 2012 3:10 AM

^ It's the new Epiphone Vinnie Stigma 5000 signature series. It has no working pick ups but looks nice....

Posted by TURD | August 31, 2012 3:19 AM

2:01, Teen Idles had a song called SNEAKERS. It's really not that far fetched for a DC punk band tee shirt to be worn at a show in a sneaker warehouse.

I love scarf denial. CLEARLY you flaming dolts can see plenty off girls in the very first photo. It's like that super awkward mouthbreather square kid who refuses to believe that the one girl he's really had a nerd crush on for the longest time, is dating someone, y'know, more popular and normal.

9:13 - did the straw clog, Bucky? Sorry that it's hard for you when a dinkleberry finds it's way into your conduit of love. Maybe some more of your buddy's methane emissions will help relieve the inner pain and rejection known as Buckeye Shrimper BAU.

Awesome. On top of the fact that BS guy doesn't know who he's talking to, he also can't spell properly on top of not making any sense along with it! A great combo of three :)

Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2012 9:53 AM

I'd do the bearded daddy from Doomriders

Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2012 9:54 AM

turbojugend is a joke, y'all missed the boat by about 10 or 15 years...jesus.

Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2012 10:39 AM

fuck Turbohagar

Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2012 11:03 AM

just like anybody who isn't a hipster missed a boat of some band that they didn't see before they bcame more widely known, right?

Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2012 11:04 AM

scab band. they down to what, like 2 original members?

Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2012 11:20 AM

NIGHT BIRDS = amazing, the only NJ/NY band that sounds like they are from California = a cool thing.

DOOMRIDERS = Boring Beyond Belief. The best thing about them is their name...and that they open for good bands.

TURBONEGRO = still amazing. Fuck the haters.

Tons of cute girls at this show.

Yes, it was not as packed as the 2 prior HOV shows I have seen (Cro-Mags and Suicidal last summer) but dead by no means.

Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2012 4:10 PM

^ It was Cro-Mags and Fucked Up at House of Vans last year. Cro-Mags and Suicidal Tendencies was at the This Is Hardcore fest a few weeks back.

Regardless, both were also great shows!

thanks for the answer. Now that I know, I will never purchase a bloodmouth endangered rainforest tree guitar. Danelectro all the way for me.

Posted by hardline warrior | September 1, 2012 12:54 AM

Incredible night with Turbonegro and the Jugend as always!

To the haters: simply, fuck you. None of 'em had the balls to say anything at the show so they waited to hide behind the computer screen... very cool.

Pleasure meeting all the new faces and hanging out with the older ones. We rocked the house!

First Act Delgada

Hell yeah Mark! The show was amazing, the band was amazing and the whole thing was FUN. Plain and simple. If you're not into fun, that's your choice but otherwise if you don't get Turbonegro you're missing the point.
