Amanda Palmer

Yesterday, we had a ton of New Year’s Eve show announcements. Here’s another one: Amanda Palmer and her band the Grand Theft Orchestra, who just played a show at Webster Hall last night (9/11), will take over Terminal 5 on New Year’s Eve (12/31). Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, September 21 at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday, September 19 at noon.

Amanda’s Webster Hall show last night was with The Simple Pleasure, Jherek Bischoff, and Ronald Reagan. If you weren’t at the show, maybe you watched the webcast at Amanda’s YouTube channel? The show was pretty wild and relied most heavily on material from her new album, Theatre Is Evil, for which the show was a release party for.

She also played a couple Dresden Dolls songs and did some covers, including Yaz’s “In My Room,” Wham!’s “Careless Whisper” and, wait for it… “Call Me Maybe!” During Theatre Is Evil track, “Bottomfeeder,” Amanda dove into the crowd, draping the audience in a huge canvas that she was wearing as a skirt. If this is how Amanda celebrates a record release show, things are probably looking pretty nuts for New Year’s Eve.

Her tour continues in DC tonight. An updated list of dates, a video of Amanda crowd surfing, and the setlist from last night’s show are below.
