Isn't this the Demo tape line-up? Dave Smalley was on "Can I Say"

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:14 AM

@11:14 - They re-recorded "Can I Say" with Smalley. Shawn played quite a few shows. I am hazy on the ins and outs of the fallout and why Shawn was booted or quit. Anyway, we did get Swiz, who were awesome.

Posted by Fortyver | September 24, 2012 11:21 AM

It would be nice to see Brian make up with Dave Smalley after all these years. I don't think anyone thinks of Shawn Brown as "the classic lineup."

Posted by Jim Testa | September 24, 2012 11:25 AM

Dave Smalley is too busy stumping for Romney

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:26 AM

@11:21 - right on about Swiz. Sweetbelly Freakdown is solid too.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:30 AM

Would rather see Swiz reunite, but I'll take this too

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:32 AM

11:25 very true. But, Dag Nasty songs live are still a dream come true. Maybe, he'd throw in some Swiz tunes. I'm hoping a NYC show gets added.

I'd lose my shit if I ever saw Kingface live.

Oh, and special guests are Fugazi.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:34 AM

Nice try with the Fugazi rumor 11:34.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:36 AM

haha, people are excited to see some fat old guys play hardcore.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:43 AM

@11:43 - if I buy you a ticket, would you come to the show?

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:50 AM

Freak Nasty > Dag Nasty

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:58 AM

one of these dudes is gonna break a hip.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:58 AM

Hi, I just stopped by to make an obligatory negative comment about old guys since I have nothing better to do with my day.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 12:01 PM

Dad shorts.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 12:14 PM

11:43 = pussy of the day! Congrats, dude.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 12:15 PM

Speaking of having nothing better to do, these guys should have something (anything) better to do than embarrassing themselves this way.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 12:16 PM

11:43 has an Alkaline Trio tattoo on his arm.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 12:21 PM

Who cares if this is "classic" line up or not, all that matters is that tool dave smally has nothing to do with it

Posted by reasonable guy | September 24, 2012 12:21 PM

have fun watching 50 year old men pretend like they're 20. Sounds super fun.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 12:23 PM

Is one of these guys Rocking Daddy?

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 12:26 PM

12:01 might be?

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 12:27 PM

this is the most perfect news

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 12:48 PM

Dag dat biatch be nasty

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 12:53 PM

i was at dag nasty's first show. now i live in my parent's basement.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 2:32 PM

"have fun watching 50 year old men...."

Only thing your cowardly anon-posted "thoughts" made me feel was happy. Happy that I AM going to go and have fun. Happy that I'm NOT stuck in my head and jealous because I gave up music when I was supposed to in my mid twenties. Happy that I have a pair, and posted under my name. Happy about a bunch of things but mostly this. Happy that I don't know your sorry ass at all.

Posted by Ian Smith | September 24, 2012 3:03 PM

^ Yep.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 3:26 PM

ugh, enough of these reunions already. dag nasty were fun then, but ya know, some memories are best left undisturbed. like smalley's first band, DYS.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 4:46 PM

I'd like to see the Field Day line-up. But, that's me.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 5:37 PM

Dave's versions of Can I Say kick total ass over Shawn's. That is undeniable. The fact that he now might be more conservative politically than some of you, and that you take pains to point this out as being somehow relevant, speaks volumes to your narrowmindedness and fascistic mindsets more than anything else. I suppose I'm a racist if I say Shawn's versions suck in comparison. Grow the F up.

Posted by Fleetwood | September 24, 2012 5:44 PM

Might be worth a look to see 'em after wha, 25 years, but only in NYC. An expensive proposition trudging down to DC...

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 6:05 PM

Refresh my memory--did they play that month CBs closed?

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 6:13 PM

Yep, someone is going to break a hip.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 6:19 PM

I can't fucking wait for this.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 6:20 PM

somewhere D is stoked.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 6:31 PM

still waiting.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 6:35 PM

Shawn Brown was the best singer for Dag Nasty by far.

Smalley was whiny and it just got whinier with Cortner.

This is the best news ever.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 9:13 PM

@Fleetwood - You seem to be saying Republicans are people too? This is completely wrong. As is the "undeniable" statement that Dave Smalley's Can I Say was superior to the original. Wrong again.

While you were wrong twice in a row, i don't think that makes you a racist. I'm sure you have had many a moist dream of feasting on a hot bowl of Condy Rice.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 9:21 PM

You've got to be a real fossil if you knew the Brown-era Dag Nasty. I'm an old fart and I vote for Cortner! Smalley and the opening chords of a Down By Law set was often my exit theme from Continental.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 9:38 PM

^bet this guy is fun at a party.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 9:38 PM

toss my salad days

Posted by Anonymous | September 25, 2012 11:16 PM

yeah!! i cant think of a better excuse to visit the east coast. stoked to see Shawn do his thing.
ps- i'm surprised no one has mentioned JESUSEATER

pps- dave smalley can suck a dick. he betrayed punk when he chose to be a republican.

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2012 12:18 PM

is there anything more brutal than middle aged hardcore guys?

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2012 12:35 PM

Dag Nasty's fans were uniquely moronic among the DC hardcore set. It's likely that hasn't changed.

Posted by Vaginamunch | October 24, 2012 10:19 PM

I always wondered if they replaced Brown with Smalley to better appeal to their whiter than white demographic.

Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2012 6:55 AM

I never quite got why this band was bigger than Government Issue, who are also playing this show. GI are amazing. Also, I am watching Aerosmith reunion on TV right now. If these moribund fellas can do it, certainly DC HC bands stand a chance.

Posted by Drivel Flask | November 2, 2012 11:55 AM

Johnny Ramone... Mr. Staunch Republican- As always, free pass. H.R. Hater of gays- free pass. Dave Smalley... no hate, just less than far-left political views- evil conservative bastard!!!
