David Byrne & St. Vincent @ Williamsburg Park
David Byrne and St. Vincent

David Byrne and St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) played their third of three NYC shows on their tour together in support of their collaborative album, Love This Giant, at Williamsburg Park last night (9/29). The setlist didn't change much from the Beacon Theatre shows (or the rest of the tour), kicking off with Love This Giant singles, "Who" and "Weekend in The Dust;" and including Talking Heads favorites like "This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)," "Burning Down The House," and "Road To Nowhere;" St. Vincent favorites like "Cheerleader," "Cruel," "The Party," and others; plus some David Byrne solo cuts and more off of Love This Giant.

The two pop wizards were in their own distinct characters throughout the show, as they were backed by a choreographed eight-piece horn section. (Who, not to mention, added great layers to the newly-worked out versions of Talking Heads/David Byrne/St Vincent songs.) David and Annie were both in admiration of each other during the songs from their respective projects, and though it was David who had the hits and got the crowd going most wild, Annie brought her own flare as well with physical guitar freakouts worked into all of her songs. They also had a shared moment as they "fought" with their hands over a theremin.

Have you been keeping up with Kelly Pratt's (aka main member of Bright Moments and co-musical director/member of David Byrne & St. Vincent's horn section) tour diary of his time on the road with David and Annie?

More pictures, videos, and the setlist from last night's show are below...

That "Who" video is mislabeled.. it's "Forest Awakes"

Dear David,

Not that you have anything to prove, but until you reunite with the Heads or do another tour full of Heads songs, I'm not giving you my money.

Sincerely,

Everyone

Well, aint she pretty

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 1:42 PM

"Everyone" except the thousands of people who fill his shows every night he plays.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 1:43 PM

Sound multiple times was horrible with speakers cracking. There was no support and tickets were $50. Such a sad way to experience great music. Fuck AEG. Fuck corporate bullshit shows.

All of whom are waiting for him to finally play some Heads tracks, 1:43.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 1:56 PM

i really enjoyed the show, and enjoyed the venue. you guys just hate everything.

figured they wouldn't go on til 8-ish. wrong. guess he had to be in bed early. missed a bunch of songs. was still a fun show, though. and the talking heads will never, ever reunite so this is the best we'll get.

2:00 could not have said it any better. You guys really complain abput everything bunch of whiny sausages

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 2:17 PM

thought the show was phenomenal! All the choreography was great and the music was really interesting and well peformed. Not the biggest fan of the record but the show was something to see.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 3:25 PM

2:17 should learn to read his tickets, 7:30 as show time was pretty clearly labeled.

Good show that night, and a nice audience too.

St. Vincent...highly overrated.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 3:46 PM

she is overrated but good looks go a long way

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 4:13 PM

she bats for the other team man-boys

This was a great show, I'm really happy I went. Too bad there were some yahoos in the back screaming for "Heads" throughout the show and talking loudly during Annie's numbers.

Slight setlist correction. They played St. Vincent's "Ice Age" instead of Optimist.

Is she a lesbo??? I don't think so but maybe she could be someone clear this up for all

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 6:03 PM

6:03, google said she is there you go.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 7:13 PM

blap

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 9:14 PM

6:03 she's currently dating another female musician
(as was her ex), so most likely gay

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 9:33 PM

Chiming in: It's no one's business whom anyone is dating or how any alluded to individuals identify. Just because these artists are public figures doesn't give anyone the right to discuss their public lives in a public forum such as this blog. The fact that everyone can retain their ambiguity (even me as I post this anonymously) in this internet sphere doesn't excuse this behavior. In reality one might consider this behavior rude if you didn't know the people personally.

Every one needs their heroes, with that understood and acknowledged, it is still at the end of the day no one's business but the parties involved. Their privacy should be respected as human beings first and foremost. You want to contemplate how they identify because you admire the work they do, more power to you but don't get the two confused. And yes, by being public figures they open themselves up to being judged yes, and talked about, but the audience needs to assume some responsibility too. It's great that these rumors open up conversations, but going as far to post about it crosses a line I think. Think it, don't type it y"all.

In my dreams, St. Vincent is dating me. But I'm pretty sure she's just doing it out of pity.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 10:13 PM

^ Shut the fuck up.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 10:14 PM

"^ Shut the fuck up" was for 9:57.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 10:24 PM

Optimist is the best song from the collaboration album and they didn't play it?

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 10:35 PM

What, so I'm not even worth insulting? I demand to be taken seriously enough to be told to shut the fuck up.

Posted by 10:13 | September 30, 2012 10:37 PM

Oh 9:57, shut the fuck up with your stupid preaching. It is well known in the music community and pretty much anyone in the know that Annie is a lesbian. Not bi at all. Total lesbo. Annie does not hide it. She was fucking Lissy Trullie for a while. Might still be.

The reason that it comes as such a surprise to the people making comments on here is because 90% of the readers of this blog are idiots who think they know shit but actually are some of the most clueless idiots you would ever meet.

Just go read the threads on the Global concert and Jack White's shows this weekend. Non discerning, amateur concert going, know nothing fools. Laughable and sad what this blog has become.

Like the kicks, Annie!

He also recently released a book called "How Music Works". I've been enjoying it. For whatever reason this incarnation of David Byrn imagination isn't my cup of tea. Really wish he would make up with Tina and Chris.

I'm laughing at the frowny baby in the picture and all of the people who take him and his band seriously.

David and anne aren brilliant creators! They multiply each other. My opinion David is more comfortable in his skin than ever, and it makes his art better than ever. Love his earlier stuff but love even more...that and what he continues to create.

Annie is just free, and that is more beautiful than her beauty.

Amazing show guys :-)
