It was Devotchka Weekend here in New York, where the gypsy folk band's tour came to town for two nights at Bowery Ballroom on Friday and Saturday (9/14 - 15) and then Sunday (9/16) at Music Hall of Williamsburg. A set of pictures from Saturday's Bowery show with Clare & the Reasons are in this post.

Devotchka are releasing DeVotchKa: Live with the Colorado Symphony in November which was recored at Denver's Boettcher Concert Hall back in February. Colorado residents can experience that collaboration in actual concert form this week when Devotchka with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra will play the famed Red Rocks Amphitheater on Thursday (9/20) with The Airborne Toxic Event. Remaining tour dates are listed, with more pictures, below.

Sunday, w/ Devotchka all the pieces were in place, there just wasn't any spark. Clare and the Reasons, were a bit darker and on point.

Yeah, the Sunday show was a bit of a downer, but I think that's because that was the least crowded I've ever seen MHOW. Certainly never seen them close off the upper floor before. Devotchka may have saturated interest by playing three shows like that. I thought they sounded great, though.

Saturday night was incredible.

There really is nothing more "gypsy-folk" than recording an album with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra...or being as demonstrably dorky as these pictures indicate...
