"Saw Gotye last night! Radio City Music hall! What a show. Definitely an underrated band and album. Go Gotye. . .Go." - John Siravo

Gotye @ Radio City
Gotye

Australian singer Gotye brought his North American tour to Radio City on Tuesday night (9/25) with fellow Aussies Missy Higgins and Jonti, for what was Gotye's first of two NYC shows. The second NYC show on his tour is TONIGHT (9/27) at Williamsburg Park with Zammuto and GIVERS. Tickets for tonight's show are still available.

After her opening set at Tuesday night's show, Missy Higgins joined Gotye on stage to sing the duet vocals on "Somebody That I Used to Know," which are performed by Kimbra on the album. Not too surprisingly, that was the only song that the crowd lost their shit during, but Gotye remained intent on delivering a fully worked out set, not focused solely on that one song (and for the record, he didn't even end with it). Gotye and his four-piece backing band had various arrangements worked out for each song in the set, which included almost the entirety of Making Mirrors in addition to material off of his two previous full lengths, which still have not been released in the US. And to complement their sound, the band was backed by large screen animated videos.

Missy Higgins plays The Bell House on Friday (9/28) with Butterfly Boucher and tickets are still available.

More pictures, videos, and the setlist from Radio City are below.

times have changed...remember when shows used to have real sets and lights (heavy metal went ape shit for it) whereas now you just toss up a big screen and show videos. bah humbug

times have changed...remember when the hurdy gurdy man would stand outside your place of employ and play melodies while a small monkey would run around, hat in hand, accepting donations, heavyset people went bananas for this, now musicians just want to play on a stage for people who have already paid and there is no pageantry, bah humbug

you wanna spot him, 10:23, encourage him while he strains to put up that 10th rep of bench press, then congratulate him after and hit the showers

GOTYE IS GREAT! He is famous all over the world and his fans adore him. Many follow and go to many towns and countries to hear him again and again. In Chicago the audience had a great time, some even dancing. Wally and the guys work their ass off doing their best. He is a musical genius. Question... How many musicians have been featured on David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel,Saturday Night Live, and have been nominated and have won awards?
*I think some of the previous comments were made by jealous boyfriends or husbands whose wives are devoted to Gotye. Or else they are just stupid bastards. (Had to talk in their own language)

it's a shame cause he's actually pretty good, but because of that one annoying (although admittedly catchy) song, he's going to be consigned to one-hit wonder status most likely.

Hope they come back around for a non-festival show. The Church of St Paul the Apostle show a year or 2 ago was phenomenal.
