Jon Spencer Blues Explosion celebrated the release of Meat And Bone, their first studio album in eight years, at a packed release show in the basement of Bowery Electric in NYC last night. DJ Jonathan Toubin warmed up the crowd, many of whom got a bit wet from the torrential downpour happening outside. At 8:30pm sharp, Judah Bauer, Russell Simins and Jon Spencer (aka the Blues Explosion) kicked off a super hard rocking set of tunes to the appeciative audience that was made up of people who either bought the new album at Other Music, won a ticket from BrooklynVegan, or managed to get themselves on the guestlist some other way.
The band head out on a proper headlining tour in October, starting in Harrisburg, PA, and hitting Bowery Ballroom in NYC on November 2 along the way. All listed dates, their new video for “Black Mold”, and more pictures from Bowery Electric, are below.
