Lightning Bolt @ 285 Kent

Spazzy destruction duo Lightning Bolt played 285 Kent on Thursday (9/20) the day before blessing ATP I'll Be Your Mirror on Friday (9/21). The show was also one of two NYC dates for Indian Jewelry, who blessed Public Assembly the following night (on 9/21) as part of Et Cetera. Pictures from the 285 Kent show, which featured a drum-off between Greg Fox & Kid Millions, are in this post.
Lightning Bolt's tour in support of their new compilation Oblivian Hunter comes to a close at the Paradise in Boston today (9/23). The record is currently available for order via LOAD Records.
Stream the song "King Candy" from said release and check out more pictures and a great HD video of Lightning Bolt from 285 Kent, below.

Really looks like a crowd of varied personalities

The power went out about three times. Wasn't the venue's fault -- LB brought huge stacks and "these go 11". Todd P was freaking out about the power situation backstage but I think altogether it was a pretty damned solid show; things could have gone a lot worse with that many people moshing. I literally tasted the sweat in the air and my lenses got fogged, as you can see in a few shots.

4:45. I'm pretty sure that the universal opinion is that Lightning Bolt is objectively better than the band Real Estate.

Maybe it wasn't such a bad thing that I missed out on this (especially since I've seen LB a few times befo' in the past)
8:04: Hey, if that's what 4:45 wants to listen to, that's fine by me. His (or hers) is the one time I've seen here an opinion by someone that wasn't BS trash talk.
8:28: Eh, I think there were varied personalities moreso at the shows I went to of theirs the last couple of years. This show just looks like it was "varied personalities", meaning trendy doofuses.

This venue sucks. Besides being a fucking fire trap and having a crappy bar. I left a few minutes before midnight with a headache from enduring crappy opening bands, and LB hadn't even come on yet, which was ridiculous. Fortunately have seen them before and will have to catch them another time at a different venue, whole night was a bummer.

@ 2:46 - Wrong. Realistic is more like it. The venue is a dump.

Great show, but I couldn't make my way to the baño, so I just had to stand there and surreptitiously wet myself. Luckily I was wearing black slacks, and the music drowned out the faint sound of liquid trickling down my leg, which otherwise might have been audible to anyone nearby. Not a bad way to spend a night.
