Japan post-rock favorites Mono played a pair of NYC shows as part of their US tour, hitting Le Poisson Rouge on 9/14 followed by Glasslands on 9/15. Pictures from Friday (9/14) are below.
Chris Brokaw of Codeine opened both dates, and will continue to do so on all dates on the Mono tour. Chris scored the new film Now, Forager, which opens Friday, October 3 in NYC at the IFC Center. Opening weekend (10/3 - 10/5), the filmmakers will be in attendance at screenings. Not Brokaw, however, who unfortunately/fortunately (depending on who you are and where you are) will be playing a show that day with Mono at Mississippi Studios in Portland, OR.
For those of you with an odd aversion to visual media and/or would rather experiences the score in the comfort of your own home, look for that soundtrack to hit in the new year via DAIS Records. In the meantime, Brokaw is also preparing to release Gambler's Ecstasy on October 2 via 12XU in the US, and Damnably in Europe/UK. Preorder your copy now via the label, and stream the new song, 'Criminals," below.
Pictures from LPR, a stream of Mono's For My Parents, that "Criminals" stream, and the Now, Forager trailer are below.

i've never heard of mono or codeine, but from the looks on everyones faces it seems like the concert was pretty downer.

Her face maybe was inspired by an excellent noisy atmospheric experience by Mono.
I would guess the guy in Mono having the Marshall amp sideways may not be the best for the tubes??
Maybe that was the point for effect?

mono absolutely killed it. great set. big ups to the dude with the goatee and his loud-ass camera making noise the entire set!

Kind of an underwhelming show by Mono standards. But oh well, still decent.
Also somewhat surprised at how small the crowd was. Remember when these guys came back with the NYC hall show for the DVD?
Man, how time flies.

@9:19- My camera is set on an ultra quiet shutter mode so it can barely be heard. It wasn't this guy with a goatee that made all that noise. I heard several cameras machine gunning photos (how many do you need?). It's very distracting, especially at a performance like Mono.
