a young Morrissey, not a fan of the Ramones...
Ramones

Steve Morrissey was not a fan of the Ramones! In other NYC Morrissey news:

Attention all fans of Morrissey:

On Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012 Morrissey will be performing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Here is where you come in...

How would you like a chance to be close to Morrissey's performance on the show?

Click on the link below and you will be directed to our "Band Bench" Sweepstakes entry form. Enter for a chance to win seats on our band benches and an opportunity to surround the stage during Morrissey's performance.

Please make sure you include the following band code: MOR, in your entry form.

The Fallon appearance is right before Morrissey kicks of a US tour that brings him back to NYC for a show at Radio City and two shows at Terminal 5. That tour hits Texas and Chicago too, and all the other places listed below.

Speaking of Morrissey, Shoplifters lady-helpers of the world unite! The Moz apparently came to a woman's aid when she fell while shopping at NYC book mecca The Strand.

Gays like Morrisey seldom find macho rock appealing. He probably likes Donna Summer though.

Well the article is super old, but still true.

Ramones fans are the ultimate posers - you get that Ramones t-shirt and a free bowl of soup with every purchase at Walmart, right?

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2012 7:50 PM

it takes guts to be gentle and kind

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2012 8:15 PM

@7:50
you know what else is true..
you being a moron

mental boob

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2012 8:19 PM

7:50- right, I'm sure any of the members of the band had anything to do with that marketing. I've also seen Rolling Stones, Beatles, Pink Floyd merch at stores like Walmart as well. According to your logic, any of the fans of these legendary bands are posers. You are an insufferable bore.

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2012 8:21 PM

Ramones are boring crap. Their songs are simple minded drivel.

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2012 8:32 PM

I live near his old house on kings road.cycle past it everyday.feels weird that the smiths started in such a nondescript house

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2012 8:33 PM

at least the ramones never played fallon.

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2012 8:40 PM

Morrisey is for the sensitive people who are very careful with their grooming.

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2012 8:47 PM

Well, yes and no. Yes, he didn't never play fallon, and no the grooming is not for the obsolete concubine to which the human race signs its collective name.

i'm craving a ham hock all of a sudden.

7:45 - The Ramones are "macho" rock? What are you, a woman?

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2012 11:23 PM

I always thought of The Ramones as kind of a novelty act. Morrissey, on the other hand, I always thought of as a pretentious, ponderous bone smuggler for depressives. I'll take the novelty act any day.

11:34

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 12:17 AM

The Smiths > Ramones

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 12:33 AM

But the Ramones were glue sniffers.
Its like the obligatory old band everyone says they like cause they are suppose to, but people are indifferent to them.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 12:41 AM

The Ramones are a family, NOT a band. And nobody has a FUCKING CLUE about it.

Posted by Baxy | September 27, 2012 3:13 AM

I'm craving a ham hock all of a sudden.

iPods

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 7:00 AM

That Strand story is completely made-up. He wasn't in NYC that weekend. It was probably just a guy with an accent. Completely untrue.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 7:41 AM

While we're being honest, The Smiths were as boring as they come.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 7:46 AM

7:00am laugh

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 8:13 AM

Shocking that a humorless twat like Morrissey wouldn't like The Ramones.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 8:42 AM

pretty sure all of you never ever had opinions like this on bands at age 17

right?

oh, okay.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 8:59 AM

This article makes me laugh. The Ramones and The Smiths are basically my two favorite bands.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 9:04 AM

What 11:34 said, verbatim.

The Ramones are definitely overrated and don't really give me the right fix of the ATTITUDE of what punk is all really about to me (the Sex Pistols give me more than enough of that attitude). But Morrissey is prett much the prime figurehead of emasculation. Oh, and the Smiths are too boring and whiney, even for being one of those "sensitive" bands. I'll take Depeche Mode any day over these sourpussies.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 9:26 AM

Good thing for me I love the Ramones endlessly and I really enjoy the music of the Smiths, so I get out of this infantile anti-social behavior unscathed.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 9:44 AM

Morrisey is a bitch. He's probably still bitter that the Ramones will forever be better and more recognized than his band. What the fuck does a teenage kid from Manchester know about the New York scene anyway?

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 9:59 AM

Well, he had a point about the Ramones.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 10:06 AM

I don't trust anyone who doesn't like the Ramones.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 10:12 AM

I prefer the Smiths and Morrissey's solo output to the Ramones, but will not begrudge anybody their love for the Ramones. Blessed day to you all!

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 10:30 AM

Fallon show should stage an appearance by
Zombie Ramones and settle this Once & For All

morrissey loves the ramones. first album is one of his desert island discs. he wrote a letter to melody maker when he was a teenager. do you want people to hold you to your opinion when you were a teenager trolling BV?

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 11:44 AM

great two weeks on fallon. first damon, now moz. rock on!

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 11:45 AM

11:44- your point would be valid if the people here were actually teenagers and not pathetic hipster adults behaving like them.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 12:10 PM

they'll trip you up and laugh when you fall.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 12:24 PM

I wear Ramones on the outside becasue Ramones is how I feel on the inside

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 12:29 PM

I wear a sabra t-shirt.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 12:41 PM

^that's a good look

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 12:48 PM

7:50 and 8:32 are shallow miscreants who will never achieve anything of any value in their very short time on this planet.

and let's hope that's a VERY short time.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 1:17 PM

9:59A - i'm a huge smiths fan (and an even bigger ramones fan), but i agree completely.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 1:20 PM

The tour kicks off at The Wang Theatre.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 1:28 PM

"degenerate no-talents" "notoriously discordant", " as incompetent as possible" -Everything I love about the Ramones.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 2:50 PM

The Ramones never did anything for me. I like a handful of Smith songs though.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 3:44 PM

I studied jazz performance and I will go on record saying that The Ramones are one of the greatest acts in American music over the past 100 years.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 4:20 PM

people always say the ramones' songs were such simple crap. I'd like to see these people play the riffs in songs like "pinhead" or "I'm against it" with the right speed, timing and stamina. they'd probably cramp up after the first eight bars, not to mention get confused by the chord changes.

Posted by Bendrix | September 27, 2012 7:55 PM

^i could do all that with my dick tied behind my back.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2012 10:58 PM

your rubber prosthetic dick? you need to wash that thing. it smells like your dogs ass.

Lonely troll writing at 11PM on a Thursday night is lonely

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2012 8:33 AM

Hope they come back around for a non-festival show. The Church of St Paul the Apostle show a year or 2 ago was phenomenal.
