The Gaslight Anthem

The Gaslight Anthem just kicked off a huge international tour in Canada last week and as mentioned, it hits NYC on November 28 and 29 at Terminal 5. Both of those shows are sold out but the band just added a third date happening at Terminal 5 on November 30. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (9/21) at noon. Still no openers have been announced for any of the three T5 shows.

An updated list of dates and the video for "45" are below.

These guys sound like a Bruce Springsteen cover band with more distortion. Not very tasteful, unfortunately.

Groundbreaking statement right there. No one ever noticed! This will be their ruin.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 12:34 PM

Pop punk for grown ups.

FRAT BRO ROCK IN ITS FINEST FORM

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 12:47 PM

It's practically impossible for a band to reach their stature and audience without making music that is at least somewhat accessible. Either accept that, or don't, but posting the same shitty comments about them every time they announce something is really tiresome.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 1:17 PM

Sounds like Creed.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 1:18 PM

Its accessible music for frat boys at Terminal 5.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 1:55 PM

Great live show. One of the best bands around these days.

Let the haters hate be be concerned about Frat boys. After college the frat boys were never really around to be noticed.

profoundly meh

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 2:06 PM

Gaslight is dying to be Springsteen and obviously relish in the comparisons but their sheer ineptitude in songwriting and weak musicianship put them at a level of a very mediocre emo band and best.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 2:15 PM

The Killers do this Springsteen shit a lot better.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 2:23 PM

Id rather watch Grimes sing karaoke than watch these dudes actually play their instruments

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 2:34 PM

I'm sure they're paying attention to your biting critique while selling out venues and getting paid large amounts of money to play music for a living. Meanwhile, you're a nobody posting on an anonymous message board. Hmm...

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 2:42 PM

NJ rocks!

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 2:53 PM

They're not getting paid "large amounts of money," but their music sure is embarrassing. Amateur emo guitar

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 3:01 PM

That guys only got his sleeves rolled up so we can see his tattoos. Nice job eejit.

Wish more people would realize this. Though I AM STILL perplexed that a band like Animal Collective can play 5,000-capacity venues with 70% of their music being self-indulgent nonsense.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 3:16 PM

corporate rock!

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 3:26 PM

"They're not getting paid "large amounts of money,"

Let's ballpark this shit.

Selling 9,000 tickets
3 nights at terminal 5, probably at least a $30 ticket
$270,000 haul.
Let's say 50% of that goes to crew, managers, lawyers etc.
$135,000

four members
Roughly $33,750 per member

for three nights of work.

I'd say that's a large amount of money.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 3:28 PM

Look at that perfectly posed promo shot. We're tough guys, but we're also really serious. We're also sitting in this rundown area because we're legit working-class dudes that you can respect.

Even though the music sucks ass, I have to give them credit for a finely crafted image.

Not bad but ticket price is made up by the promoter to cover the band's guarantee and then make a bit of profit on their own. My guess is this band books for $70k/night.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 3:34 PM

LOL@ the bitter, jealous hipster who attempted to act like these dudes aren't making bank.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 3:39 PM

This is easily one of those bands that, in ten years, people will be embarassed to admit that they liked. Too bad a lot of you don't have that foresight now.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 3:46 PM

Yeah, I mean I know I personally sit around wallowing in my own sorrow looking back on bands that I used to listen to and thinking about how uncool I was. Seriously though, it must be pretty terrible to go through life being legitimately worried about things like that. Serious question: Do you honestly spend that much time crafting your own image that you care THAT much about what others think of your musical taste?

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 3:51 PM

Who's wallowing? I just like good bands. That way, I don't have to think about it. Or douches like you.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 3:56 PM

Haters gonna hate. But I bet they are better than all of your bands. Oh, wait...

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 4:09 PM

Is there a difference between these dudes and Airborne Toxic Event? For some reason I just group these 2 bands together...

Gotham by Gaslight: Batman fights Jack the Ripper in this history-inspired one off. Obtain a copy free when you present this coupon at Hero's World. (I did)

This is 101.9 rock, it's personal opinion whether you think that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 4:15 PM

The guy in front trying to look all cool with his sleeve tattoos. Just another talentless band consisting of image obsessed douchebags.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 4:19 PM

Repeating the same thing that you said earlier (which also got no reactions or laughs)is not really making your argument any more compelling, 4:19.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 4:27 PM

That tattoo only got its sleeves rolled up so we can see its guy.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 4:39 PM

"Who's wallowing? I just like good bands. That way, I don't have to think about it. Or douches like you."

Can you tell us who you listen to? Serious question.

I've noticed that whenever people claim they like "Good" music only, they never get around to saying what said good music actually is.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 4:42 PM

This band is so great, they need a bunch of babies to go around sticking up for them on the internet.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 4:44 PM

If you don't hate them looking at that perfectly posed image conscious promo pic, then this one should work:

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 4:46 PM

4:44, its their management team's interns writing all the positive stuff here. The same people who emailed bv the promo stuff to post and then follow it up by defending the band from the people who call obvious bullshit.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 4:48 PM

the killers should be opening for these dudes

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 4:59 PM

"My guess is this band books for $70k/night."

Do the math on this shit. After venue rental fees, show marketing, agent, manager, crew, equipment rental, light rental, tour bus, equipment truck, gas, drivers, meals for all, and occasional hotels, the guys in this band are not walking away with all that much.

Sure it's great money if your highest aspiration is to continue on being a coke hoovering bar back at Sway on the weekends while spending your weekdays on hipster music blogs defending some piece of shit macho NJ emo tools who've gone through some completely transparent contrived image reinvention and are now disguised as defenders of americana rock.
But I aspire for more than that myself. That money does not impress me. Thats bullshit change if you want to live like a real fucking pimp! Get your priorities straight.

"piece of shit macho NJ emo tools who've gone through some completely transparent contrived image reinvention and are now disguised as defenders of americana rock"

Saving this for the next post about this band. The rest of you can go home.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 5:27 PM

^^Thank You

Says the guy posting from his windowless, basement apartment which is windowless and a basement because he makes a living occasionally working the door at Union Pool.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 5:38 PM

The door person at Union Pool is a woman, which you would know if you ever got out of your Mom's boyfriend's meth lab in Metuchen.

Conjecture as to the location of posters at time of posting: an Internet Comment classic!!!

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 5:42 PM

Metuchen is way too Indian for meth labs, which you would know if you ever got out of your brother-in-law's mother's boyfriend's cousin's uncle's...

well.

fuck you.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 6:08 PM

seriously guys it makes me angry that this band actually posed for a press photo rather than just using instagram

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 6:15 PM

This band sucks. No comment will change that.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2012 6:38 PM

They do blow. Lead singer claims that their "sound" is very Clash inspired. Joe Strummer must be spinning in his grave...

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2012 11:09 AM

Pearl Jam music for people that think Pearl Jam stopped making music after Vitalogy...

Posted by Paul | September 18, 2012 11:16 AM

Hey, guy who hates, but is strangely obsessed with gaslight anthem: nobody cares.
