UPDATE: In the wake of this incident, Billie Joe is going to rehab.

Green Day

"I'm not fucking Justin Bieber you motherfuckers!", says Billie Joe in the entertaining video below...

--

"Green Day had their set cut in half so Usher could have more time. Billie is drunk and freaks out and him and Mike smash their gear."
This happened last night at the iHeartRadio fest in Las Vegas that Rihanna, No Doubt, Pink and Usher also played. Justin Bieber was not on the bill.

sellout

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:03 PM

"sellout"

For the past.... ohhhh, what, 15 years? Time to get over it, no?

Anyways, love em or hate em, he's right...

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:08 PM

this is actually kind of funny

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:10 PM

Well that was the most badass thing Green Day have done in like 20 years

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:11 PM

If that was Thom Yorke people would be cumming all over it

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:11 PM

Despite all my rage I'm still just a rat in a cage - Stephen Malkmus

Posted by James Iha's Spirit Animal(!) | September 22, 2012 3:13 PM

Uhh...15 years just makes it all the worse. Sellouts. End of story.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:14 PM

i actually gained some respect for green day now i have to listen to some real punk music to lose it all again

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:14 PM

I only listen to bands who sellout so this works for me

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:15 PM

this video does nothing more than inspire a chuckle.... green day have 0% credibility

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:15 PM

That was really whiny and annoying so yeah that was pretty punk

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:16 PM

hilarious

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:17 PM

"Uhh...15 years just makes it all the worse. Sellouts. End of story."

Uhhh. yeah, longevity and money really sucks. You'd turn it down, right?

Like I said, get over it. If you actively spend braincells eeking out the word "sellout re: green Day, you are beyond help.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:18 PM

They're just ripping off The Replacements

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:22 PM

slow news day?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:26 PM

Good for him. But a better reaction would've been not leaving the stage at all. Playing until they pull the plug on you, no?

How much i hate American Popular Music!

Posted by ME | September 22, 2012 3:28 PM

That was cool

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:35 PM

What the hell did they expect from this Clear Channel clown show? What a tool and whiny bitch

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:36 PM

Gren Day signed on to play a gig celebrating the fact that the entire radio dial is ClearChannel Top 40 crap. Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Usher, Linkin Park, the reunited No Doubt, Brad Paisley and Pitbull are all performing. They made their sell-out bed, they should just shut the fuck up and cash their checks and lay in it.

Posted by ReillyO' | September 22, 2012 3:38 PM

wow he was wasted

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 3:39 PM

kinda funny, but really just sad that they are even at an event like that

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 4:05 PM

There's tons of people in that crowd who are uninterested in their set, sitting down looking bored.

And he actually had "1 minuteS"...

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 4:22 PM

3:38 AMEN. You win. Waaaaaah we're not getting enough respect on this top 40 wank off. Of course you're not. Corporate radio doesn't give a shit about you. If you didn't want to risk a 25 minute set you don't play this Jingle Ball style shit.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 4:48 PM

What's the pitchfork rating - I reserve judgment on this band until they tell me what to think

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 4:49 PM

nice unamplified guitar smashes, losers.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 4:54 PM

i hope you had the time of your life

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 5:04 PM

No- you're not Justin Bieber- but you're the "punk" version of him. They should of have pulled the plug on these guys 15 years ago. and not just because they have sold out- but because Greenday is so corny that they never deserved to evolve. or devolve.

Posted by Sunskull | September 22, 2012 5:24 PM

who is green day?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 5:37 PM

funniest part of the video is when billie joe tries to smash his guitar and mike mop top dirnt sees this and immediately follows suit. comedy gold.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 5:41 PM

"I'm not Justin Bieber." Look at the bill you're on, dude. Maybe not, but what's the difference?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 5:55 PM

@5:41-- I'm dying.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 5:56 PM

both the crowd and the band look really fucking lame in this vid. time to hang it up.

Posted by chris | September 22, 2012 6:09 PM

Did Usher have his mother's permission to play this show?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 6:47 PM

@5:41 --Then at the end the camera focuses on the still completely intact bass lying on the stage.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 6:55 PM

sellout is an inaccurate term. whore, too. they effectively cashed in on behalf of the entire punk and hardcore scene in the entire world. it's as if every check those bands could've cashed wound up in these kids' pockets. soaring heights of fame and fortune to plummet back to earth.......and play irving plaza and whatever the featured video is from.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 7:26 PM

Hummus Day

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 7:42 PM

EDGY! hahaha

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 8:01 PM

How old are these guys? Like 50??!!

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 8:12 PM

Punk died around 1979. Calling these losers punk is a joke.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 8:40 PM

eventually Billie is going to be featured in a revival of Les Misrables
on Broadway. but now he's punk....

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 8:41 PM

"kinda funny, but really just sad that they are even at an event like that" Why? They fit right in!

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 8:51 PM

Tourettes?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 9:55 PM

Looks as if that IHeart Radio concert that's been "SOLD OUT" forever while radio stations gave tickets away had lots of empty seats...ha ha...blame Obama.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 10:49 PM

my god he couldnt even BREAK his own guitar. is he 14 years old? "do you know how long i've been around?" yeah, and even in 1988 at gilman street everyone fucking HATED you.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 11:13 PM

Yeah, let's crucify them for selling records.

Carry your own flickering torch.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2012 11:59 PM

fugazi sold a couple million records, did anyone crucify them?

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 12:26 AM

fugazi sold a couple million records, did anyone crucify them?

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 12:27 AM

he should have just bit his lip and closed his eyes.

Posted by Amonymous | September 23, 2012 12:27 AM

How ironic that The Green Days have a new turd dropping into the bowl on tuesday. This band was never good. Only small children and clueless, vapid adults would ever "like" this drivel.

Posted by EastBayRaygun | September 23, 2012 12:54 AM

ugazi sold a couple million records, did anyone crucify them?

>> no they did not a couple million.. maybe if you combined all their records..maybe but either way, other then the fact they both play similar instruments in a loud amplified setting there really isn't any comparison between Green Day & Fugazi

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 7:53 AM

Honesty you guy's commenting about them being sellouts or the fact that they are older give it a rest. I respect greenday their music has helped me through alot they are better then that usher crap everyone else listens to they have worked hard to get were they are..

I think they had every right to rage so good on them they said somthing that had to be heard.

Dear winny bitches Fuck Up

Posted by Alexis | September 23, 2012 8:00 AM

The bottom line.. given a choice, would you rather hear 20 more minutes of Usher, instead of 20 more minutes of Green Day?

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 8:11 AM

I never considered Green Day "punk". Punk effectively ended when it became accepted by the mainstream many years before Green Day existed.
Yes, they are mainstream. But they write their own music and play their own instruments. Usher does neither.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 8:16 AM

fuck

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 10:32 AM

@811--usher, and its not even close

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 10:33 AM

Dear Alexis,

Green Day obviously didn't help you get through English class.

This is not ancient Rome. Feel free to punctuate.

Yours Truly,
Billie Joe

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 10:52 AM

this happens to us all the time (set cut short) and we're not doing anything remotely close to top 40.

being dicked out of set time sucks no matter who you are. you kinda have to appreciate that a band like this cares, they actually care that they don't get to play as much music as they wanted to. a lot of artists would be like "fuck it" and take the guarantee.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 10:57 AM

also contextualizing green day as "punk" is so retarded. why do you people even have these kind of conversations? are you seriously 12?

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 10:58 AM

My band and would have formed a back to back circle center stage and just waited...until we eventually got our asses kicked by security.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 11:05 AM

Nice mascara, Billie. Very edgy.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 12:21 PM

Repeater went platinum.

Deal with it.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 1:49 PM

There's just something precious about an effeminate pseudo-punk dude saying "fuck" every other word. Did that loser even finish high school?

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 2:44 PM

next stop rehab

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 3:51 PM

3:51 got it right

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 4:59 PM

this is awesome, just when i thought Green Day couldn't be any more awesome and hardcore. Ya, screw Usher, screw pop music today, Green Day should have a whole 2hrs.

Posted by JP | September 23, 2012 5:08 PM

This concert sucked from ticket purchase to parking lot puke.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 5:30 PM

Enjoy ;) Green Day vs. Justin Bieber "American Idiot Boyfriend" (DJ Schmolli's 1 Minutes Mashup)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-pK_720xoY

Posted by Schmolli | September 23, 2012 5:43 PM

Green Day criticizing others for being mainstream and sell outs is hilarious. Their not as bad as Justin Bieber or Usher (at least Green Day's music isn't complete garbage). But still, their all in the same spectrum. What a joke. Practice what you preach Green Day. ;)

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 8:20 PM

I agree! With everything!

Posted by Sixela | September 23, 2012 10:05 PM

I agree with them....cut a bands time for a guy that sings with a computer is bullshit

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 10:38 PM

"I agree with them....cut a bands time for a guy that sings with a computer is bullshit." The guy with the computer is probably what the kids came to hear not the mall rock of goofy Green Day. I think they both suck!

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 10:58 PM

GREEN BAY

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2012 11:50 PM

I remember having this whole "green day are sellouts!" conversation......in 1993. Who cares now.

Posted by Sketchy | September 24, 2012 12:20 AM

that was kinda awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 10:12 AM

the confusing this is... no one accused him of having sex with justin beiber.

glad he is getting help.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:03 AM

I heard he just jumped off the Tallahassee Bridge... actually if any of you get that reference you're too old to be on BV... and I guess I am too... shit.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:22 AM

^Tallahatchie, dude.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 11:24 AM

Green Day is a great band and have done what they have done to survive as a band. They have expanded their audience base, and have artistically evolved to what they never thought they could be in the 1980's. I have nothing but respect for a band that can last that long and still make great music. The best part about them is they don't give a fuck what their critics say! Say what you want, but Greenday is still around when so many other bands have failed. I don't call that selling out, I call that intelligence.

Posted by Dan | September 24, 2012 11:33 AM

@11:24 - oops.

Posted by 22 | September 24, 2012 11:49 AM

I like Green Day

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 3:47 PM

That was FUCKING awesome!

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 3:50 PM

Green Day are a bunch of wankers. They are a Justin Bieber punk band. The people that listen to them now play Halloween punk dress up when they go to see them play live. Paint nails black and spike their hair. Green Day with their fake protest music. They were against Bush with that stupid "American idiot" song. But they are playing a Live Nation show? They are a Republican punk rock band. Republicans love them, cause they are them.

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2012 8:17 PM

record execs will probably tell billy to be on the next bieber record to "break the ice."

Posted by Anonymous | September 25, 2012 11:45 AM

What does how they dress and how old they are have to do with anything, oh they are old now, they should just grownup and what
pick a different career? They are musicians, what right does anybody have to say when someone is too old to live their lives?

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2012 1:14 PM

Why don't you dumbasses listen to the music instead of focusing on how big of 'sell outs' they are, green day is my childhood and they are an amazing band, I'd like to see you all do better than them.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 7:02 PM

I would be freaking out on stage too if I had to cut my show for a joke like usher

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2012 7:05 PM

"I would be freaking out on stage too if I had to cut my show for a joke like usher"

When you're in a punk rock band, and you play a show with Usher....You're not in a punk rock band.
