Animal Collective at Prospect Park in 2011 (more by Vincent Cornelli)
Animal Collective

Animal Collective were scheduled to bring their tour with Micachu & the Shapes to Williamsburg Park tonight (10/5), but have cancelled. The band writes...

Hey everyone,

We really wish we didn?t have to be writing this right now, but after taking Dave to the doctor this morning it turns out that he has laryngitis and unfortunately we are unable to play the show tonight. We are already in the middle of trying to reschedule NY dates in the next couple of months to make up for this cancellation.

Due to circumstances beyond both our and the promoter's control, we are unable to honor the tickets for tonight's show. Fans that have tickets will be able to get full refunds at the place of purchase, and we will let everyone know as soon as we have new dates scheduled. Again, our sincere apologies to fans anticipating this show. We are always psyched to play NYC and will make it up to you.

-Animal Collective

Damn. Feel better Dave!

Micachu & The Shapes were supposed to open, but you can still catch them Monday at LPR. Micachu also DJs at Cameo tonight.

Animal Collective did play Fallon last night though. You can watch below...

wwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:15 PM

Complete BS. They're scared. Homeboy who ran that Africa scam got word that their were a few hard pipe-hitting hipsters waiting for him.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:18 PM

they call that singing?

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:18 PM

Panda Bear @ Bowery

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:19 PM

Kickstarter at Public Assembly

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:21 PM

nah just some leftover salmon at bowery

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:21 PM

"they call that singing?"

I was thinking to same thing.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:22 PM

Maybe that'll give Deaks time to record his 3 years in the making solo album.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:22 PM

AC on record 5/10 live 0/10

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:23 PM

I wonder just how many tickets they sold for this show...but this means we'll get an indoor show next time around!

Hopefully two nights at United Palace or Beacon? No Terminal 5!!!

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:23 PM

I guess that is why they did Rosie oh(Panda Bear on vocals) on Fallon last night.

Posted by AnonHUMMUS | October 5, 2012 1:23 PM

Hey! Wha' happened?

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:27 PM

Looks like I'll have plenty of sea salt [via tears] for my hummus cookoff tonight.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:30 PM

Yeah poor ticket sales..shame how far they have fallen!

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:32 PM

They did everyone a favor by not bringing their noise pollution here.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:34 PM

1:32 - That's not what happened Inspector Hector.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:34 PM

The show was almost sold out.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:37 PM

What is this? A WPRB 103.3 convention?

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:37 PM

meh

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:38 PM

1:37 how do you know a show is "almost" sold out? Not like you can see how many seats are taken up.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:40 PM

They're having pizza with Jack White

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:43 PM

I know Josh/ Deakin and he the reason they cancelled is for his safety. He's been sent threats via hummus wrapped in newspaper and last night he woke to a dozen pita covered in sriracha in his bed.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:45 PM

I'll still be at the waterfront tonight if anybody wants to dance with me.

Posted by Chuck Schumer(!) | October 5, 2012 1:47 PM

can i just say

MOTHER. FUCKER.

How am I supposed to get my money back?

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:48 PM

Animal Collective, like Integrity, is no longer allowed to play in NYC. That grifter is no longer welcome here.

Posted by Lord Ezec | October 5, 2012 1:49 PM

lucky i saw the philly show....maybe something nice and warm indoors around christmas! couple nights @ webster......

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:50 PM

I was planning on rolling with the girly girl and blissing out to Animal Collective! Now what am I going to do tonight?

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:52 PM

^kick rocks? Hummus platter?

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:54 PM

1:48 did you not buy authorized tickets? If so, then it is your own loss, buddy.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:54 PM

"Due to circumstances beyond both our and the promoter's control, we are unable to honor the tickets for tonight's show". Another SCAM by Animal Collective - they know that most people just won't take time to get a refund and those who do will ended up getting losing 40% of the value on "charges".brilliantly executed.

ps. to the retardedly name guy (Deaks?) of the African Scam - If you're really serious, why don't you just pay back people at kickstart? $25,000 is probably what spend on kale for the month..

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:58 PM

scalpers paradise. all the tix they sold are now worthless - and they get refund back to their original CC order.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 1:59 PM

why is this matter even a subject of discussion?

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:06 PM

Scaminal Collective

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:07 PM

They are going to see the Whigs instead man. T5 for the win!

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:08 PM

there couldn't have been much scalping going on though...

Posted by Doc Brown | October 5, 2012 2:11 PM

1:54 no "buddy" it was through Ticketmaster.

1:58 I just called Customer Service and got a full refund, you just have to be nice.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:15 PM

They would have been lucky to sell 500 tickets..new album not so good.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:18 PM

Couldn't even get halfway through that video. Still don't get it.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:18 PM

2:15 are you doing PR for SCAMINAL COLLECTIVE? If you really can get full refund post your email/phone number.
Also - can people get full refund for the African Kickstarter Scam as well?

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:19 PM

new album blows.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:20 PM

2:19 the Scaminal Collective apologists are really too much. Talk about marks...

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:23 PM

2:19 I actually did, and for the record I'm just a guy off the Myrtle J who took the day off to see this show, so if you're looking to give anyone shit you're taking the wrong route. BTW, do you seriously think I'm stupid enough to post my email and phone # on Brooklyn fucking Vegan?

Just call customer service. They really don't give you any shit about it. Fuck Ticketmaster in the ass but I'm just saying I got my money back.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:29 PM

They can't honor the tickets but Ticketmaster can right? Someone is giving me my money back

Scarves everywhere in Williamsburg are miffed.
Be on the lookout for the booming influx of rabid comments in the rock and metal threads (y'know, since fruity scarves will have to sit at home tonight), it might be a bit busier than usual with the fawning over those bands like they're in Playgirl or whatever!

News at 9.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:46 PM

@2:29 has every day off though.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:49 PM

They're not gonna get another day like this in October again. Risky outdoor show this time of year but the weather would have been perfect. And yeah, it was just about sold out. And yeah, you get an automatic refund from TM or Crowdsurge or SH or wherever you bought unless it's cash from some CL dude then good luck.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:55 PM

Let me ask the question again! How does someone know if a GA show is almost sold out?

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:56 PM

I love Animal Collective, but...

who's Dave? There's nobody named Dave that plays in the band.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:56 PM

The weather today is fantastic. Fucking goddammit.....

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:56 PM

^yeah would be nice for an outdoor show!

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 2:58 PM

2:56, David Portner

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 3:02 PM

Let me give you a little help 2:56(1). The 2 morons above saying it was almost sold out are just that. Morons. They have no clue. Not saying the reasons are this for the cancellation but I can assure you this show was far from sold out.

You don't even have to take my word at that. Just look at all the advertising in the last week alone and email blasts as well. They do that when a show is not selling well.

Also, if Dave has laryngitis couldn't his gf Angel Deradoorian squirt some of her pussy juice down his throat and get it up and running again. Just sayin.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 3:05 PM

2:46, Buckeye Shrimper

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 3:05 PM

laryngitis ? aren't the vocals all mixed/reverbed/autotuned/sampled/pre-recorded? who the fuck cares? this is not Adelle or Pavarotti - just fucking go there and press enter on the Powerbook...
SCAM,SCAM...they were probably counting that the weather would be horrible and are already at their country-houses for the weekend....

ps.Cronos from Venom and Mark E. Smith from The Fall never cancelled a gig for laryngitis.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 3:09 PM

Animal Collective and Jack White both suck dick

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 3:17 PM

I work in the NYPD 90th precinct (not a cop) and the board says "Animal Collect 5pm - 60%sold w/ size same day". I take it that means it was 60% sold with a good chance of a big walk up crowd. Probably the weather. It also has a big X through it now.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 3:22 PM

Deacon + Cash in pocket from AC fans + First Class flight to South Africa = The best of times!

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 3:28 PM

Not many artists could sell that venue out, nor they expect to.
Even half full house there means making good money.

Posted by ME | October 5, 2012 3:49 PM

^Typical BV idiot know nothing.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 4:03 PM

"Deacon + Cash"

David "Deacon" Jones and Johnny Cash. Nothing mentioned on BV has shit on these two.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 4:08 PM

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 4:36 PM

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 4:52 PM

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 5:04 PM

Cancel a show, just to refund everyone's money automatically and net 0 profit. Flawless scam!

Enough with the nicknames: Deaks, Panda, Avey....so fucking stupid.

Grow the fuck up!

Deacon + Robbing fans from Kickstarter Site + Eating mounds of prime Hummus on a private jet to South Africa = Kicking back on a hammock with drink in hand and a bright white bubble thought
hovering over his head which says "SUCKERS" in Bright red neon letters.

Animal Collective tickets will be honored at the upcoming Green Day/Best Coast shows at the Barclay Center!!!

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2012 12:56 PM

i had a ticket, was glad they cancelled because I'd rather watch the great baseball that night. sick of this "band". Feels was a beautiful record (to me) but ever since, these guys have lost me a little bit more with every release and tour. I also admire toughness, and these guys are obviously not tough.
