Chain of Strength / flying trashcans at Acheron 10/11/2012
Chain of Strength

Chain of Strength

Chain of Strength played Acheron last night (10/11) joined by support from Clear and Creem, a prequel to their two-night stay as part of Revelation 25. As expected, the lines at Acheron were massive by the time door hit at 11PM, with Brooklyn's Creem hitting at 11:30 sharp and the entire affair all wrapped up by 1:30AM. The room was wall-to-wall stagedives, X'd-up hands and energy for the entirety of their set. Pictures and video from Acheron are below.

Sick of It All is scheduled to headline Irving Plaza tonight (10/12) as part of the second night of Revelation 25, joining CoS, Mouthpiece, Damnation AD and Popeye.

Meanwhile across town, the punk antidote to Chain of Strength was playing Lulu's: Japanese noise-punks D-Clone with Perdition, Nomad, Bortgang and more. Who went?

More pictures / video from Acheron are below, along with set times for the remainder of the Revelation shows.

I have to say, that's a lot of sack flying around in people's faces. I would've been the guy unconscious on the floor from trying to hold my breath for two hours.

Can one of you agro sausage bros explain the appeal of this type of event? I really don't get it.

"As expected, the lines at Acheron were massive by the time door hit at 11PM"

And yet no one got shut out. Love the hyperbole.

Also never want to jump on the "no girls" train but it is fantastically hilarious that there is not a girl to be seen in any of those pictures.

I forgot to mention that as a teenager I used to go to shows like this. How? I don't know. In any case, if you've got a balding head and not from shaving it, you're too old to be in that 'pit'.

After some consideration, I have decided that this is the most annoying guy out of all the annoying guys. The only Varsity squad this guy made was the cock sniffing team. Shame on you sir.

Yesterday was national coming out day, what a perfect way to celebrate.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 11:20 AM

yea, but did you know the chain of strength bassist was in alien ant farm??? HAHA. glad these kids evolved ... and then devolved. circle of life!!

no one over 18 should be in that club, let alone dancing ... but there they are, enjoying their nights out, despite what blog posters might say. DEFIANT! "yea, i'm old, bald, but you're a fat snob and dress like a woman. who's worse?"

Wouldn't these *guys* have been better served by watching the vice presidential debate and post-debate analysis? Instead, they're scrunched together in what appears to be a 20x20 foot box, sharing bodily fluids. If they wanted an aggressive night out, they could've invited Biden in his iRoc Z-28 to raise a little barechesed hell.

11:37: more like brooklynclosetcase.com from all these other comments I'm seeing here by the usual scarves.

riddle me this all you geniuses. the band on the stage at this show consists of guys in their early 40s. does it not make sense that the guys in the crowd are a similiar age? i could understand if it's 40 year olds seeing bands with 20 year olds. but c'mon. it's the young kids, frankly, who don't really fit into this picture (and, apparently, and females. haha)

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 1:46 PM

All you idiots and your "sausage" comments have probably never experienced a hc show. Seems like it was a great time, alot of old school heads in that audience! Looks like pics from old CB's shows. Wish I could of checked them out.

Oh, and CB's is short for CBGB's - pretty sure 98% of the clowns on this board commenting didn't know that. So happy I'm old and experienced that stuff!

chain of strength were fucking dope ... back in 1988. they sound tired as shit in that video. singer barely gets through a verse before handing the mic over. is that entertainment?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 1:57 PM

What sad series of events must befall on a man's life to be 40 and wind up in that room?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 1:59 PM

Wow, this reminds me why I hated hardcore dudes as a punk girl. What the fuck misogyny. Not a single girl in the crowd... that might be an indication that something is wrong with your "scene," douchebags.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:02 PM

that's a fascinating stream of logic you've put forth, 2:02.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:04 PM

Hardcore is punk, you dummy. so did your past days as a punk girl include Green Day shows at MSG? Fuckin dunce.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:09 PM

2:02, what makes you believe you wouldn't be accepted with open arms if you'd gone to last night's show? That belief, in so many ways, is completely misguided. And while pondering that, please, for the record, define "punk girl." I assume you're about 48 years old by now--seeing that punk basically trailed off by 1980. Also, to get deeper in the woods on this, are punk dudes known for treating punk girls with respect? I'm asking you because, as a non-punk (ie, a hardcore person), I honestly don't know.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:17 PM

It's a good day for the race.

Oh yea, which race is that?

The human race.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:23 PM

Punk girls are only good for two things. Math and Science.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:31 PM

"Wow, this reminds me why I hated hardcore dudes as a punk girl. What the fuck misogyny. Not a single girl in the crowd... that might be an indication that something is wrong with your "scene," douchebags."

Hey, look! It's retarted scarf pretending to come off as a "punk girl"! How cute.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:44 PM

What the fuck do you lonely cunts care about girls at a HC show? If you want chicks? Go pick up girls in the Lower East Side. You spend all your time dumping on HC on this site. Gay.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:48 PM

Vinny Panza likes threesomes with dudes.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:57 PM

Let's keep it real, there has always been a repressed homo-erotic element to the hardcore scene. It's always been that way.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:59 PM

only for homoerotic elements like you, 2:59.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:00 PM

^well explain it for us. What's this scene all about? Why do you gather with others in a 99.9% male audience and treat listening to music as some sort of contact sport?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:04 PM

What's homoerotic about a bunch of men with shaved heads crawling and writhing all over each other in piles of flesh chanting together?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:05 PM

^yeah right? Nothing homoerotic about it at all. Haters.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:08 PM

Listen, assholes. If I want some other guy's sweaty taint on my head while yelling about "unity" that's my straight business. I don't see what's so homoerotic about it.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:10 PM

apparently, you see what you want to see. you see what you NEED to see. haha. some people are able to compartmentalize their social lives--music here, women there. do you also see homoerotic elements on the football field...hockey ice...wait, don't answer that! it's pointless having any discussion with "guys" who've never had a fight in their lives, never knocked anyone out, never did a flip off a stage (not for sport, but to get air from all the homoerotic stifling elements in the pit), never had sex with three women, never had fucking balls!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:10 PM

^hahahah

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:11 PM

3:10 what does any of that retarded spiel you just typed out have to do with music? Why are you the only music audience on the planet that feels the need to crawl all over yourselves? Listening to music isn't a sport. All you dudes are suspect.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:14 PM

3:14, this is the last time i'm gonna say this, so pull the cockaspaniel out of your ear and LISTEN UP:

apparently, you see what you want to see. you see what you NEED to see. haha. some people are able to compartmentalize their social lives--music here, women there. do you also see homoerotic elements on the football field...hockey ice...wait, don't answer that! it's pointless having any discussion with "guys" who've never had a fight in their lives, never knocked anyone out, never did a flip off a stage (not for sport, but to get air from all the homoerotic stifling elements in the pit), never had sex with three women, never had fucking balls!!!!!!!!

Middle aged men engaging in a public group grope is pretty fucking gay no matter how you slice it.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:18 PM

"apparently, you see what you want to see. you see what you NEED to see. haha."

What I see is the pictures posted above fruit loop.

What the hell is wrong with these dudes?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:18 PM

3:14 is apparently incapable of understanding anything beyond his/her own point of view, the marking of a small mind. Hope your parents didn't waste too much money on an education.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:18 PM

^explain to us. Why is the audience at a music concert crawling all over itself like a group of adolescent boys playing smear the queer?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:20 PM

well, 3:20, when you put it like that. HAHAH.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:22 PM

Uhm guys...this same flawed "closet homo" logic could apply to any audience at most concerts featuring extremely loud, aggressive music, including a Slayer pit, which is also almost entirely male. I'm as PC as it comes but women tend to stay out of these situations for physical safety reasons. That's exactly what made the riot grrrl movement so awesome...because women attempted to cleanse the pit of all the macho, violent, male energy.

" I'm as PC as it comes but women tend to stay out of these situations for physical safety reasons."

According to those pictures women stayed out of this debacle entirely. Probably for repressed homosexual pseudo-jocks are creepy reasons.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:47 PM

Jesus, I hadn't yet realized just HOW insecure the scarves are about their sexuality. These losers try WAY too hard to act like they're into women.

"Football? Oh, grown men tackling each other. Nothing gay about that! Now I'll just go sit here in this corner and read sensitive poetry because it "speaks" to me!"

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 4:23 PM

Did you mean to say coke party?
Cool brah.

For the record there were probably 30 ladies there and I guess between 150-200 dudes.

1 was the photographer behind these photos i believe, 10 were over by the bar/side stage area, 2 were doing chain merch, 1 was hanging by Clear merch, and the rest were in the middle, doing stage dives, or the back.

I mean how many women are interested in hearing old men bark lyrics they wrote when they were 17 over top of noizy/loud "throw back" punk rock devoid of modern fashion and full of jock collegic aesthetics? This music got me through alienation and insecurities in middle school because I hated sports and just wanted to be an artist but i didnt have anything to relate to other than comic books. Shit like this kept me sane, I know plenty of women who are involved in punk and hardcore but straight edge youth crew bands in particular rub a lot of women AND men the wrong way because it's got more in common with religion than anarchy.

Anti-socially safe, dellusionally elitist, and fashinably suburban

Posted by Hunter | October 12, 2012 4:23 PM

3:51 Football is a sport. the contact makes sense in accordance with the essence of the endeavor.

This shit not so much. I've managed to listen to music all my life, including as an audience member at concerts, and never have I need to climb up on the guy next to me or have a taint on my forehead.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 4:24 PM

lulz @ 4:23

Even though there are like 50 photos posted he has to actually go and point out where there were pockets of individual women. Pictures don't lie.

As far as your second paragraph, fair enough, but what were you doing there then? Just 100% nostalgia?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 4:46 PM

Am I the only one who thought hardcore was ridiculous in high school? Even than it seemed markedly juvenile.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 4:54 PM

I love the stuff but even I'll admit that most post-80s hardcore is total rehash and should only serve the purpose of giving young kids who never got to experience it first hand a chance at feeling that type of energy release. Other than that, unless you were around back then, you'll never experience what hardcore was about when it was truly new, fresh and rebellious by seeing a hardcore show today.

The only people commenting about women at a hardcore show and how many "sausages" were there are the real closet homos. No one cares what you think, hipster. Go back to Bedford Ave, get a Pabst Blue Ribbon, then go back home to Bushwick and listen to your pleasantly scratched Bjork records, then blog about it. Jerkoffs.
