Death Grips

Last night in "ALSO", we pointed out:

Death Grips finally announced a tour! It doesn't include any NYC dates at the moment, but they tweeted, "more tour dates to be announced! (pretty much all the missing spots being mentioned)."

You can also make money off the new Death Grips album.

Willis Earl Beal, who is on tour now, released a "free digital Principles Of A Protagonist soundtrack EP of 5 re-recorded songs from Acousmatic Sorcery" via BitTorrent.

Speaking of BitTorrent and Death Grips, the rap-noise crew are the most downloaded artist on BitTorrent for the first half of 2012, with over 34 million downloads, beating Counting Crows, DJ Shadow, and Pretty Lights.

WELL, that part about no NYC dates, didn't last long because Death Grips have announced a November 12 show at Music Hall of Williamsburg (the same venue they were supposed to play last time when they cancelled their whole tour). Tickets for the new NYC show go on sale Friday at noon.

UPDATE: and Death Grips will be here even sooner for CMJ.

Death Grips just released a new album for free, and it has a very NSFW cover.

This is shit on a stick. Terrible.

If you cannot appreciate or understand Death Grips' art, don't hate. Just shut your fucking pie whole and move on. They happen to be bad ass. Your ears are most likely used to hearing well-scrubbed bullshit music and simply aren't ready for the sound of something this revolutionary. If it's not your thing, so what, but don't make a value judgement based on your obviously philistine tastes.

@2:13

They don't.

No one does.

This is all the result of some bullshit major label chicanery.

Those motherfuckers think that the "internet kids" (i.e. the "simpletons" who destroyed their industry) can't tell when they're meddling/toying around with some new "cutting edge" online marketing strategies.

^ Like with Odd Future. Saw that shit coming from a mile away. They must be aiming for young "media inexperienced (lol)" teens, that's all I can figure.

Hey 4:30 - they can't hold a candle to Grizzly Bear or the Black Keys so FUCK YOU.

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2012 7:42 PM

thiz fake rap blowz azz!

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2012 7:55 PM

4:30 is paid by Epic/Sony to defend Death Grips in music blog comment sections to try and make it seem like there's anyone out there who really gives a shit.

Epic/Sony paid for above post too.

Epic/Sony also paid off BitTorrent to make it seem like people actually download this garbage.

Game over, fucktards. Little Toto pulled back the curtain. Dorothy can see what you're doing.

quoting amour & dicipline website:
"Death Grips have now changed the Creative Commons Attribution licence into an Attribution-Non Commercial one. It means you can share or remix the work, but NOT use it commercially without permission. Several explanations are possible:

- They didn't know what kind of licence they took in the first place(I doubt it, as it wasn't their first Creative Commons release and Death
Grips themselves shared this A&D post via Twitter).

- They changed their mind.

- Epic/Sony made them change the licence, so the Major Company can still have exclusive commercial rights on Death Grips music. As the Major
Company has paid for the recording of No Love Deep Web, this scenario is
quite likely."

Pitchfork just gave this shit an 8.2 so I guess it's cool now

Fuck this world

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2012 10:36 AM

^ How much do you think Epic/Sony paid Pitchfork for the 8.2? Think Pitchfork charges by the point or something?

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2012 11:50 AM

@1150 you're more paranoid than death grips, dude. no one is paying pitchfork for review points.

that being said, this album is a 7.5 at absolute best. not bad, but money store is years better. they've evolved, but in a way that is less exciting and promising than earlier albums.

My father works for Heinken and he told me this weekend that Blur, Muse and Depeche Mode are the headliners for Coachella. Heineken is sponsoring this year again.
