Down at Best Buy Theater, 9/28/2012
Down

Louisiana took over downtown Manhattan on Friday (9/28) when sludge superheroes Down played Best Buy Theater alongside Saint Vitus (Dave Chandler hails from New Orleans), Warbeast and Haarp. Pictures from the show are below. For Saint Vitus, it was their second NYC date of the week, which included a headlining show at the bar somewhat named after them (pictures).

The Down and Haarp dates are in support of recent releases for both bands. Down dropped the first in a series of EPs with DOWN IV Part One: The Purple EP. Haarp's Husks LP recently surfaced on Down vocalist Phil Anselmo's Housecore Records. Stream a recent Haarp track below.

So many frowns.

How can a venue in Brooklyn play Best Buy Theater?

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 2:15 PM

So now Times Square is considered downtown? Did this writer just move here? oof.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 2:15 PM

Went just for Saint Vitus. Arrived for Warbeast's last song. Watch SV and once again they absolutely kicked ass (saw them last year at Metalliance at Irving Plaza as well). Once they ended, bought the screen print from the Brooklyn show and left.

WAY beyond worth it for Saint F'n Vitus.

2:11 - the sad hipster who got his little ass kicked by metalheads in high school. Everyone's laughing at your lameness.

Stick a fork in it, it's done. 2:46 wins. I hate the sausage comments but I don't give a shit, 2:46 wins. Why in the fuck are Phil and Kirk kissing? Why?

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 3:03 PM

RAR! I'm a fucking tough guy!

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 3:08 PM

Wish I could've made the show, but I've seen Down play there a few times, so I'll catch them next time around.

2:11/2:46/2:47/2:56 should be grateful that it was just your typical airhead jocks that shoved them (or him) into lockers on a daily basis and not someone like Phil Anselmo doing it. Isn't life sweet? :) :)

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 3:08 PM

^ and with responding to him you just guaranteed about 20 more comments worth of the guys' anonymous douchebaggery

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 3:10 PM

^ Hi, lulzy!

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 3:12 PM

3:08 wishes someone like Phil would kiss him instead, amirite?

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 3:17 PM

^ Ha ha, yes! You definitely are!

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 3:23 PM

3:08 saw that picture, and his sphincter started twitching in eager anticipation

^ Demonstrating his favorite Saint Vitus glory hole stance, amirite?

"Keep on jackin' in the free world"!

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 3:30 PM

I like how 3:08 thinks that fat Dad up there is (or was) intimidating in any way, shape or form. It honestly looks like he was probably too busy kissing other dudes to be doing much "locker shoving" back in the day, man.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 3:51 PM

st. vitus..st. vitus ... where were all these people when they would play in front of 15 people ...

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 4:00 PM

^ They were busy disappointing their parents in some other fashion, amirite?

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 4:09 PM

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 4:17 PM

LOL 2:46 FTW

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 4:19 PM

lol speak for yourself 4:17, considering how hard it was for your redneck family to live with you making that big announcement with coming out and all.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 4:23 PM

This was a good show. Enjoyed all the bands except Warbeast.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 4:35 PM

Odd that Vernon Reid/Living Colour was not boldfaced in your write up and Melvin Gibbs never played for LC but Eye and I as well as Henry Rollins
