Fiona Apple at the Capitol Theatre - 10/10/12
Fiona Apple

Fiona Apple, whose recent arrest for possession of hash led to an onslaught of news articles on the situation which eventually (and probably inevitably) led to Fiona backlashing against all the internet gossip, came to Port Chester's Capitol Theater last night (10/10) for her first of multiple post-hash-incident shows in the NYC area. Fiona was great as usual, though she ended her set abruptly without an encore. Last night's show, like the rest of the tour, was opened by Fiona's guitar player Blake Mills. PIctures from the show are in this post.

Her tour continues, hitting Wellmont Theater (10/12), Huntington's Paramount (10/13), Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ (10/15), Terminal 5 (10/16-17), and Albany's Palace Theatre (10/19). The Terminal 5 shows are sold out but tickets for Wellmont, Paramount, Count Basie Theatre, and Palace Theatre are still available.

I am not going to bash Fiona Apple on this website, because as a faithful BV reader and commenter I would never stoop to the level of those who brand Fiona a dumb fucking cunt bitch whore.

I don't follow Fiona Apple, so the first thing I thought when I looked at the pictures above was.. "she doesn't look well".

Capitol Theater is nice but doubt it will last. I saw Sleigh Bells there and it was 1/4 full, Ben Folds Five was a little better but still, not many folks there.

If the Capitol wants to succeed they have to stick to the big old geezer acts like Steve Miller Band.

Look at the shows that are/have sold out (MMJ, Ray Lamontagne, Phil Lesh) and compare that with the shows that were "cancelled" or half empty (The Roots, Crystal Castles, Dirty Projectors).

Ticket prices are absurd. Who is going to pay $55 to see the Counting Crows?

The Cap will book filler shows and it doesn't take much to be profitable if you package shows one in NJ, NYC and Port Chester. Not saying that 1/4 full is sustainable but closing the balcony more often than not will be a-ok.

It really is an exceptional space.

fuck i had tickets to this and forgot. ticketfly, y u no send me reminderszszszszsszsfadklfjalkwfjlkwaef

Great venue, hope it lasts.

i always remembered fiona as super hot from her "criminal" video days circa 97... i just went back and watched the video... turns out i was wrong... i think she looked scary back then too

Sleigh Bells show was definitely empty, but I thought the Ben Folds Five show had a pretty solid crowd for a Tuesday night.

Place was pretty full for Galactic and Regina Spektor as well. Dirty Projectors attendance was sad, but the show still killed.

Definitely hope it doesn't turn into nostalgia central, because it's a fucking incredible venue (and it's one mile from my house).

Curious to see what the Yeasayer crowd is like. $20 for GA to them is a good deal.

Posted by Anonymous | October 11, 2012 2:43 PM

Nah, I'd rather spend $3,000 to see Yeasayer on that Coachella cruise.

you dumb as NYCers should take the train and go see shows here. Terminal 5 is sold out for two shows when you could see Fiona at a much better venue. Really hope they keep this venue going.

Let's get some reality back up in here because it seems the comments are from uninformed or deaf people.

I have been to 3 shows now at the new Cap.

Yes the venue is very pretty and lovely to look at although It is not an intimate space at all or at least does not feel like it. The balcony area is not a great place to watch the show from. Sound Wise it is not very good at all

If you are one of the idiots who think the Beacon Theater or Radio City has exceptionally great sound then you will love this place cause it is somewhat like that although a bit boomier and muddier.

If you actually know what a truly good sounding venue is supposed to sound like then avoid this place unless you have to go there because you can't see the band anywhere else

I do agree though that Fiona at the Cap is a better place to see her than at Terminal 5. But that is like asking if there is anyplace to get a better mean than Denny's?
