Astoria duo Foxygen will release their new album, We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic, via Jagjaguar in January 2013. Sam France and Jonathan Rado seem to be taking the entirety of 1969 (Stones, Love, Scott Walker, Ennio Morricone, Curtis Mayfield, VU, etc) and cramming it in a blender, making one big psychedlic pop cockail. You can stream the album's trippy, groovy single, "Shuggie," at the bottom of this post. Also below is a stream of their Take the Kids Off Broadway EP which came out over the summer.

Meanwhile, the band will be playing a load of shows this week for CMJ, including the BrooklynVegan day party on Friday (10/19) at Public Assembly. They'll play early (12:45 PM) in the back room. The lineup also includes Murals, METZ, Deap Vally and Doldrums and more, not to mention complimentary PBR, Sailor Jerry spiced rum and Mercy drink.

Foxygen's other CMJ shows are as follows: tonight (10/16, 10 PM) at Mercury Lounge for the Aquarium Drunkard showcase; Thursday (10/18) at Brooklyn Bowl for the Hype Machine's party; then on Friday (10/19) after our party they'll play Bowery Ballroom (8 PM) for the High Road Touring showcase, then upstairs at Pianos (10:20 PM) for the Deli Magazine showcase; and two shows on Saturday (10/20) first at Pianos (4:30 PM) for the Bowery Presents party and then that night at Fuzz NYC (10:45 PM).

The band will also support Of Montreal for a few shows in December, including Webster Hall on 12/11 (tickets). All tour dates are listed below.

the festival loses tons of appeal if they leave the polo grounds. the venue is why most people go!

The Gories are not that spectacular rock band, but they are not bad. They played good music together because they have been playing good music together through the years.
