No audience makes for an awkward monologue

While Hurricane Sandy was hitting its blustery heights yesterday, NYC-based talk shows The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night wtih Jimmy Fallon were set to tape Monday night's shows. Both went on with the show, but sent their audiences home to be with their families. So monologues, chats with guests and musical performances were all done...to nobody, which made for eerie viewing.
On The Late Show, David Letterman had Interpol frontman Paul Banks and you can watch him perform "Young Again" from his new album, Banks, below. No online video for Fallon's musical guest Imagine Dragons, but you can watch his intro to what was indeed a very special episode of his show, below.

The is Damien from the Giraffes playing guitar with Paul Bank! Awesome guitar player, but I always thought of him as a riff-machine and not someone to back Paul Banks.
The Giraffes should have been huge.
