Titus Andronicus are gearing up to release their new record, Local Business, on October 23 via XL. It's a bit of a back-to-basics record, at least in comparison to 2010's epic The Monitor, but as Tom Breihan points out in his premature evaluation on the album for Stereogum, living in the shadows of The Monitor is the only potential downside Local Business faces -- it's otherwise an incredible record. Patrick Stickles and Co.'s knack for heartland punk songwriting is in tact as strong as ever before, there's some un-tread territory for the band here too, like the Stonesy swagger of "(I Am The) Electric Man" and they recall the Misfits' "We Are 138" on "Titus Andronicus vs. The Absurd Universe (3rd Round KO)." We've still got to wait another couple weeks for the record to hit shelves, but the band just revealed another standout cut, "Still Life With Hot Deuce On Silver Platter," which you can stream below.

Titus' tour with Ceremony in support of the album hits the NYC area on December 1 at Maxwell's (sold out) and December 2 at Webster Hall (tickets).

A list of all dates and that song stream below.

"We've still got to wait another couple weeks"

what is this "hear a new song from [a leaked record]" bs? it leaked, we've already heard it all. mr titus even acknowledges this so why play the game?

^ Are you talking about Christopher?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 12:18 PM

Dude - "leaked tracks", the word "epic" - isn't it too much for fucking Titus Andronicus? who gives a fuck about it? Seriously...even the mainstream R&B/Rap shit that you've been trying to market here is more interesting than boring white guys from Jersey pretending that they're Green Day (pretending that they're The Clash).

"the band just revealed another standout cut, "Still Life With Hot Deuce On Silver Platter,". Did you really just typed this without having a laughing attack?.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 12:34 PM

Are you really that close to the Band? Do you have any other records on your house?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 12:43 PM

This sounds like some Springsteen cheese right here.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 12:53 PM

This is much better than the last one, but the production on this whole thing is really distracting, and making their creative process more democratic is sort of a fail. Pat is obviously the guy that's the most compelling, and putting the others on equal footing is regrettable.

Talk about a hot deuce...

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 1:48 PM

^it ought to be called hot deuce via a silver spoon.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:01 PM

What the fuck is this?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:07 PM

Scarves can't get enough of those Hot Deuces! CoproFAGic!

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:41 PM

Bullshit 10th grade girl diary bullshit.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:46 PM

Hilarious

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 2:56 PM

"Bullshit 10th grade girl diary bullshit." perfect definition of their music. and what to do with this bellends that have their our Titus Andronicus band member (Oh Pat...). Also, wasn't one of these creatures who threw a tantrum when The Pogues didn't want to hang out with them (when they were the opening band?).

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:02 PM

Wow! People really like shitting on this band. Hot deuce.

I'm not really a fan but claiming that they are "boring white guys from Jersey pretending that they're Green Day (pretending that they're The Clash)." is a pretty stupid and inaccurate fucking statement.

I actually like the new record but I'm sure someone will tell me how much of an idiot I am for doing so.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:22 PM

^You are correct that it's inaccurate.

They are way more whiny and 10th-grade-girly than Green Day.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 3:50 PM

I would like this band if I could get past the singer's sanctimonious twitter personality.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 4:09 PM

Good band, new record is good, they are one of the best live bands around.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 4:25 PM

"My authentic self was aborted at the age of four"

Seriously?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 4:40 PM

Agree with 4.25. Why all the hostility?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2012 9:49 PM

BRUUUUUUUUUUUUCE

Posted by Anonymous | October 13, 2012 12:07 AM

he's satirizing the music blog industry and then at the end he says some shit about mexicans, as if the music industry is a metaphor for something larger?, but he doesn't really develop that idea. i dunno who wants to rally around a torch song about pitchfork. why not translate the shitiness of internet music writing into something pretty rather than pollute your music with words like "authentic" "context vs. content" "relevant"

Very interesting article, I look forward to more research coming out regarding the remaining two thirds
