Local Natives

And the "special surprise guest" playing Bowery Ballroom WEDNESDAY NIGHT is.... Local Natives! The band, who are flying in from California just for this Champion-sponsored show, will be previewing material from their new album which is due in early 2013. According to their label, this is their first show of 2012. Advanced tickets are now sold out, but not many were sold to make room for CMJ badgeholders. Did you buy one before you knew who the headliner was? If so, are you satisfied now that you know? SKATERS, San Cisco, Pacific Air, and Solid Gold open the show.

Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2012 11:35 PM

lol who?

Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2012 11:37 PM

Reasonable... I bought a ticket in just in case it was something massive. But, not disappointed, I'll go.

Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2012 11:40 PM

Don't know a thing about them. They may be great for all I know, but glad I didn't buy tickets blind.

Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2012 11:41 PM

How do so many people not know Local Natives? They had a great Bowery show a few years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2012 11:51 PM

And that there is the bait and switch, kiddies

Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2012 11:55 PM

Shit

Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2012 11:56 PM

And they had an awesome show at Webster Hall around Halloween two years back! Really, really good band.

Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2012 11:58 PM

Are Local Natives really big enough to bill themselves as a "special secret guest" with $20 tickets? I saw them at SXSW a couple of years ago and they were decent at best.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 12:06 AM

Local Natives are bad and the hype around them died down 2 years ago. No one cares anymore.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 12:21 AM

Of course they are not big enough to do that and its a big HAHA to the suckers who fell for it and bought a ticket.

Oh they will comment how they don't mind or they are excited but truth is they feel stupid.

Bowery Presents scum and this blog got you again fools.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 12:22 AM

I like Local Natives.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 12:35 AM

if they were announced to begin with this would have sold out

but now they look desperate and as if they almost tricked the people who bought tickets

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 12:37 AM

If they announced Local Natives at Bowery, it would have sold out INSTANTLY. Anyone who is pretending this band isn't big is being silly.

Not only is this commenter completely uninformed, these tickets will be going for more than face on Craigslist.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 12:50 AM

I was told they only sold 250 tickets to this show. The rest are for CMJ badges and guestlist.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 12:51 AM

only announced a couple hours and already someone looking:

Yes! Local Natives are the best!

How do so many people not know Local Hipsters? They had a great Bowery show a few years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 2:36 AM

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 3:24 AM

yo MAD money on this band releasing something urban outfitters exclusive when the new album drops i.e the xx best coast

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 3:25 AM

Whether or not I'll attend this show shall remain my secret.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 4:27 AM

So this is the new ruse, when you can't sell tickets on your own talent or buzz to bill it as special secret guest or some such shit? Beyond banal.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 7:34 AM

this band is so lame

2 absolute bozos right there. These 2 would be unable to give you the correct time if you asked that's how clueless they are.

P.S. A band selling out Bowery Ballroom does not make them a big band.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 8:13 AM

Seriously, who are these guys?

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 8:20 AM

They sold out Governor's Island 2 years ago (3500 ppl)... slightly bigger than Bowery

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 9:03 AM

^^^Oh shut the fuck up and get out of here with that bullshit. I remember that show. That show was not sold out by a long shot. There were tons of tickets available for that show. Typical Bowery Presents shenanigans were going on.

Not to mention that was 2 years ago and they were riding some bullshit Pitchfork hipster hype at that time. No one gives a shot about them now.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 9:12 AM

They must have meant Olympics type of "Special".

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 9:19 AM

This Bozo will get 5X face for his ticket while 8:13 sits in his Brooklyn ghetto studio.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 9:31 AM

"This Bozo will get 5X face for his ticket while 8:13 sits in his Brooklyn ghetto studio."

Yeah sure you will fake scalper troll. Good luck with that and your continued existence in fantasy land

So many threads about how every "somewhat popular" indie bands plays Term5. Yet, someone tries to do a Bowery show and cue the crying. Someone remember to link to this sillyness when people are moaning about their inevitably bigger 2013 show.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 9:51 AM

sad attempts from the bands'PRs and the scalpers trying to justify this....
This is patetic Bowery Presents...seriously patetic. What will be the next Special Guest? The Bravery?

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 10:12 AM

You misspelled pathetic twice.

Posted by Tumbleweed | October 16, 2012 10:15 AM

@10:12-No one is scalping tickets to this. Or at least not getting anything other than face value.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 10:32 AM

local natives is a great live band that "blew up" on the indie scene at cmj a few years back. This will be sold out and people will def. want to hear their new material. Dont forget that when they did governor's island it was like their 10th show in the nyc area in about 2 years....not a scalper and not one of my favorite bands, just stating facts. Now you may continue to cry

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 10:41 AM

^^^^ Yeah thanks for your "facts" Don't go quitting your day job.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 10:53 AM

^ "Don't go quitting your day job."

I am not to caring. Thank you very nicely.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 11:06 AM

STOP GETTING SO ANGRY, IT'S JUST INDIE ROCK. CALM DOWN.

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 11:15 AM

@11:15
Why u mad, bro?

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 11:21 AM

10:53 sounds like a really really cool person

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 12:13 PM

saw them twice in 2010 - The Beach at Governor's Island and then again at Webster for the Halloween Eve show - such a fun band to see - looking forward to a tour next year

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 12:44 PM

Fun band, in a 1/2 inch drill into your head kind of way

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 12:54 PM

I WAS HOPING FOR WILLIS EARL BEALE

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 2:01 PM

a lot of Local Native's PR,family and friends here full of "facts".
Kind of patetic to call this "Secret Guests" who will be the next "Secret Guest" here? The Bravery?..........

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 2:03 PM

All of you loathing hipsters can go fuck yourselves. Take your shoe-gazing egotistical hatred elsewhere. A surprise special guest at the Bowery Ballroom for $20. Did u expect Jay z and Kanye? If you can not respect Local Natives and their potential as a group, you have one shitty view on music. Like any great indie band theres a couple year gap before producing the follow up which is always hard to follow. Local Natives hasn't played New York since Webster Hall 2 years ago. I'm extremely excited to hear their new work and everything off of Gorilla Manor, which was an amazing album (forget the pitchfork bandwagon garbage) This will be my first time seeing them perform and I am quite glad to see Local Natives as this "Surprise Special Guest "

Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2012 2:12 PM

^^awesome live band. Saw them at pianos during cmj a few years back then at larger venues afterwards. They toured the hell out of their first album but got better and better along the way. You should be psyched, especially to hear the new stuff.

Please Record Labels - do not force your intern to take Salt Baths and spend the afternoon commenting on BV.
