M83 @ Hammerstein Ballroom, 10/2/2012
M83

M83's Hurry Up We're Dreaming came out a year ago and its popularity doesn't seem to be waning. Anthony Gonzalez has already brought the M83 live spectacular through the NYC area three times (most recently at Summerstage in August), and last night's show at Hammerstein Ballroom (10/2) was the first of THREE shows in the tri-state area this week with tour mates Sun Airway. Pictures from last night are in this post.

M83 and Sun Airway will play Hammerstein again tonight (10/3) (tickets) and will hit Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ on Thursday (10/4) (tickets). After wrapping up North America at the end of the month, M83 head to Europe for more shows, including at stop at 2012 Pitchfork Paris festival which happens November 1 - 3.

Gonzalez isn't done with Hurry Up We're Dreaming yet on record, either, with "Steve McQueen" being released as a single this week with remixes by Maps, BeatauCue, SALM and Laura Escude.

More pics from last night's show and a list of all remaining dates are below...

these guys are awesome if you don't mind watching a bunch of people pretending to play their instruments over tracks

1) Have they've been changing up the setlist from last time they were here?
2) What time did they go on (M83)?
3) How long was the show?
4) Anyone see any fans/scalpers selling tickets for $20 last night?

Thanks,
Amanda

Thanks Amanda, my questions exactly.

They went on around 9:15 and closed the main set with Midnight City around 10:15. Then came back for about a 30-minute encore.

There were several scalpers, but I don't know how much they wanted.

I've seen them 4 times since last winter and they've barely changed the setlist if anything, they just don't play "kim and jessie" really

"I've seen them 4 times since last winter..."

I really like M83 but that is just a stupid waste of time and money.

Insanity: the repetition of actions over and over, expecting different results

Well then...

Would any of the girls that were standing near me last night like to have sex?

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2012 12:46 PM

Silly scarves. Radiating that virginal vibe. It don't matter if it's guys or girls.

Like there is some sort of posh VIP elite club that BV is consisted of, 12:35.

The show was way too short. 1st set was under an hour and the encore (inc. the break) was under 30 min. So about 1:20 total. Fine when you are playing webster but at a much larger venue where people are paying $50 a ticket that is crazy.

I agree Jack White ending at 10:30. M83 last night ending at 10:45 or so. Last night I didn't think it could possibly be over already and then it ended. That's just lame.

Saw them at Webster Hall back when this tour began. That was enough for a lifetime.

They added 'Kim and Jessie' to last night's set list as well as 'Outro'-- they go on at 9:15

^ Source, jive turkey...

Great album love the bad but they didt change the set list... It's tough to respect that

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2012 4:30 PM

I was front row when they did Teen Angst. Then I walked the fuck out.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2012 4:55 PM

^ this did not happen

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2012 7:05 PM

^ what gave it away, the fact that rows were mentioned and it's general admission? You are wasting your talents here. Forensics departments across the country NEED you.

I thought Sun Airway was great!!

Hmm, thanks for the Nitehawk tip! This movie is amazing and even if I did want to hear Leslie's thoughts on it, can't do a Wednesday night.

Odd that Vernon Reid/Living Colour was not boldfaced in your write up and Melvin Gibbs never played for LC but Eye and I as well as Henry Rollins
