Opossom

New Zealand’s Opossom (aka former Mint Chick Kody Nielson and brother of Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Ruban Nielson) is visiting NYC this week for CMJ, and will play the BV day party at Public Assembly on Saturday (10/20) which runs from noon – 6PM and is totally free. Full schedule is still to be revealed but Eternal Summers, Cities Aviv and The Orwells will be there too.

We profiled Opossom over the summer, and if you haven’t checked out his album, Electric Hawaii, yet you can stream it at the bottom of this post. If you like Uknown Mortal Orchestra and have a fondness for trippy, groovy psych-pop, it’s well worth a listen.

In addition to our day party, Opossom will play the Team Clermont showcase tonight (10/17) at Union Pool that’s headlined by Matthew E. White; the Windish showcase at Pianos on Thursday (10/18, 9 PM) and then at the Wild Honey Pie showcase at Bar Matchless later that night (11:40 PM); the Bowery Presents party at Pianos on Saturday afternoon (4 PM) and the Cape Shok showcase as Cake Shop later that night (9:15 PM).

Opossom will be playing other North American shows while here, and all tour dates are listed below, along with the album stream.
