Question Mark

Not a lot of big acts at CMJ this year. Bowery Ballroom still has one night empty, and their Saturday night was just filled with the announcement that Wild Nothing is playing there twice (Saturday with Braids and Sunday with Merchandise). But now comes a last minute announcement that the Wednesday night of CMJ will be headlined by "Special Surprise Guest". SKATERS, San Cisco, Pacific Air, and Solid Gold open the show which goes on sale Wednesday at noon. Would you buy a ticket to a show if you didn't know who was playing?

The Walkmen? They are announced as a part of CMJ, yet, they are nowhere to be found - yet.

thought it was common knowledge that this is Radiohead. I'm not worried, already got 2 tix through the fan club.

Bah, can't stand T5 shows announced before CMJ, and then thrown into the banner of CMJ. If this was the case, why wasn't New Order called a part of CMJ!?!

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2012 4:40 PM

The surprise is a collaboration between Madonna and the Melvins.

Clap Your Hands are playing Brooklyn Bowl in December. Not a bad place to see them....probably even better than Bowery.

I remember getting kinda excited for the Saddle Creek surprise guest at the CMJ showcase a few years back at Bowery. When I walked in, they had Cursive printed on the posters. The suspense for that surprise didn't last very long!

are clap your hands and the walkmen popular enough to be 'special surprise guests' at a venue this size during cmj?

i don't understand why anyone likes either band.

CYHSY are def not big enough to be a 'surprise' headliner here. if that's the case, you're gonna get some walk-outs.

CMJ is getting crappier by the year. It won't be any one too exciting.
I'm taking a week off of reading BV during this millenial bore fest. Why this crap is even being held here? Go to chicago or austin. We hate college kids here.
