Back in 2008 we posted a diss video by DeLon (watch it below), aimed at fellow Sri Lankan rapper M.I.A.. He mixed gruesome images with her popular song "Paper Planes" to get the point across that she was not a "freedom fighter", but in fact showing support for alleged terrorist group called the Tamil Tigers. M.I.A. responded, denying his accusations and claiming DeLon was just looking for publicity at her expense.

MIA and Delon

M.I.A. has continued to have an eventful life in the public spotlight since then, and DeLon (pictured above) is now just one of many on the long list of M.I.A. haters, but what has DeLon, who lives in Los Angeles, been up to for the past four years? Well, in addition to continuing his music career, which most recently included landing a spot on a tour with America's Got Talent artist Lindsey Stirling (I don't watch the show, so don't ask me who she is), DeLon has allegedly been dealing with "death threats and a vicious internet smear campaign aimed at destroying his reputation [that was] unleashed by Tiger supporters." Yeah, fun!

Now he says that campaign successfully cost him this latest tour. Today he announced that he was forced to quit the tour with Lindsey because "fans, sponsors and parents who took their kids to his concert were a Google search away from believing he was a criminal." In order to help clear his name, he has posted what looks like a letter from Sri Lanka Consul General Dr. Hector Weerasinghe in Los Angeles, which says DeLon is innocent of any crimes and backs up the allegations that "tactics" are being "used to vilify his character and sabotage his endeavors for peace". But now DeLon plans to take it even further and use his time off to work on scrubbing the dirt off the internet.

Check out a "news report" on YouTube that claims DeLon is a child predator, the original M.I.A. diss video, a video statement posted by DeLon today, and his full press release, below...

Official DeLon-Lindsey Stirling Tour Statement (Oct 1, 2012)

Cyber Smear Campaign Forces International Recording Artist and Activist DeLon to Leave America's Got Talent Artist Lindsey Stirling's First U.S. Tour

International recording artist, DeLon, has stepped down as the opening act for America's Got Talent artist Lindsey Stirling's first-ever U.S. Tour. The rapper, best known to fans worldwide for his music and two chart topping U.S. Billboard hit singles "Calor De La Salsa" and "Nasty Girl", elected to leave the tour to address an internet attack campaign aimed at destroying his reputation with fabrications of serious criminal charges.

In a letter to fans and a video posted to his Facebook page, the Sri Lankan/American rapper thanked Lindsey and fans stating, "I want Lindsey's fans to know how much I'll miss performing for them. I have NEVER committed any criminal acts, nor have I ever done anything to compromise my integrity - EVER. "

The smear began four years ago after he released a video condemning hip-hop artist M.I.A. for what he felt were demonstrations of support for known terrorist group the LTTE, one of the most dangerous and deadliest organizations in the world, according to the FBI. The video, featuring his own lyrics over M.I.A.'s hit single "Paper Planes," depicted graphic images of war torn Sri Lanka and the terrorism inflicted on ordinary citizens. Released on YouTube, it drew 450,000 views overnight igniting instant controversy and eliciting hate mail, death threats and reputation attacks on blogs, message boards and video channels.
Subsequently, the video was removed from YouTube and the controversy faded, but smear content remained on the web. Following the announcement of his first U.S. Tour with Stirling, the content re-surfaced, and DeLon faced new questions about his reputation.

"In today's digital world, it's so easy for a person's reputation to be destroyed by the actions of ill-intentioned people who fabricate stories and spread them across the internet," says DeLon. "In 2008, it didn't bother me because I accepted it as a consequence of standing up for what I believed in. I never imagined it would have such devastating ramifications four years later."
Recognized by the Sri Lankan government as one of the country's most visible social activists, DeLon helped rebuild homes after the Tsunami and he returns to the country every year to participate in hands-on philanthropy. The government has publicly acknowledged the allegations were false and issued a letter today from Consul General Dr. Hector Weerasinghe in Los Angeles. "Any allegations of crimes or wrong doing are falsehoods, rumors and tactics being used to vilify DeLon Jayasingha's character and sabotage his endeavors for peace," says Weerasinghe. "We have explored all allegations and have found them to be blatantly false claims."

Leaving the tour was a decision made by DeLon and his team to avoid any negative distractions for Stirling on her first major tour. "We felt it was in everyone's best interest to step down and take the appropriate measures to ensure DeLon's integrity is never questioned again," says manager Sam Salisbury.
A first generation American, DeLon is a celebrated hit-maker and a recognizable award-winning artist in Sri Lanka where he's won numerous awards and mass popularity for his work including the "Best Rap Performance" Award. Based in California, he is an urban ambassador of Sri Lanka, bringing recognition to Sri Lankans around the world who are making a contribution to society.

Wish I knew how to say "I don't care" in Tamil. Oh, well.

Establish a connection between M.I.A. and the slanderous publications, then sue the shit out of her for defamation. For fun, call as a character witness that reporter who wrote about MIA eating truffle fries.

Sri Lanka is known for having committed human rights violations against its Sri Lankan Tamil citizens. The US censured Sri Lanka at the UN for its extreme violent suppression of innocent Tamils. Calling civilians to go to an area the size of two soccer fields for safety and then bombing them to smithereens is not what I call innocent on the Sinhalese side. If this guy wants to show that he is innocent, he should do his philanthropic work amongst the people in Sri Lanka who need it most and that are the tamils.

In my opinion, he slandered someone but can't take the same slandering back. Oh well, what goes around, comes around.

MIA is scum parading as someone who cares

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 12:06 PM

the biggest thing happening in MIA's career is trolling people w death threats and child molestation charges.

good thing she married up.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 12:30 PM

I have hard time believing what's coming out of Counsel General, "Any allegations of crimes or wrong doing are falsehoods, rumors and tactics being used to vilify DeLon Jayasingha's character and sabotage his endeavors for peace," says Weerasinghe.

Interpol has a well defined definition of a criminal, and they only start hunting for someone if they're of high value target. They don't go after low-key pedophiles, in this case Mr. Delon must have met their criteria and have contributed to the suffering of children to have his name escalated to be world's most wanted pedophile by Interpol.

I don't see how MIA played role in you being a pedophile.

Posted by Cyber Crimer | October 2, 2012 12:35 PM

Cyber Crimer,

Are you blind or did you just not read the article? And why would you not believe a government official on something that can so easily be checked. He also can go to jail for perjury.

Interpol has nothing to do with this message because the message is untrue. I did some research and found this video which looks like the real video that some kid took and repurposed for his own selfish use.

You can tell that it is false. People hate on people when they tell the truth.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 1:04 PM

MIA is a rotten talentless mean piece of shit.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 1:24 PM

DeLon is clearly standing up for the people of his home Sri Lanka. you guys are idiots for believing some stupid rumor that is so sick and twisted that the Tamil Tigers started. Give the kid his credit! He is trying to bring awareness to a well disguised situation!!

If you continue to believe something so false, you are only keeping yourself from being able to bring awareness and help others.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 1:39 PM

It's pretty sad that in 2012 people have yet to learn that you can't believe everything you read and see on the internet.

DeLon is obviously just a passionate artist who was just trying to bring awareness to what he believed in and something that was very close to his heart. How can you not respect someone who would rather take the focus off of their fame and take a stand for what's right?

We shouldn't be so quick to judge people before we give ourselves the opportunity to get to know them and not just base opinions from what we hear or read about them.

MIA saved the world last year when she played the Superbowl halftime show. Groundbreaking work.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 1:53 PM

Mr. DeLon Jayasingha represents the Sri Lankan majority community and the consecutive Sri Lankan regimes are reportedly oppressing the minorities for the past 64 years since Independence from the British.

Unlike in many countries minority issues are resolved and Sri Lanka is the only regime is showing brutality over minorities. recent attacks on several mosques is another example.

This is nothing about music but about the expletives by the rulers and siblings.

Music has nothing to do.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 2:44 PM

I always sided with the Tamils but have no doubt that MIA cannot actually sing or rap.

Posted by ME | October 2, 2012 2:50 PM

M.I.A. is a talentless, opportunist who almost managed to ruin Madonna's Superbowl half-time show. Over the years, she has added voice to the well-funded Tamil terrorist propaganda machine and indirectly has innocent blood on her hands; it may not be well-known that the US govt initially refused her an entry visa to this country because of her ties to the terrorists and their sympathizers. Now that ugly machine has set its sights on poor DeLon for calling her out for what she really is!

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 3:29 PM

The postings by Anonymous are very low in culture like the culture of 'Vulgar andObscenity' by the Honorable Defence Secretary of Sri Lanka on the media personnel.

Keep singing

Posted by Vijitha | October 2, 2012 4:38 PM

Clearly this guy is standing up for what is right, people are stupid for believing the rumors- the video doesn't even look real!!!

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 4:45 PM

These rumors are pathetic. DeLon is such a great person! He actually cares about his country and fans. Don't believe everything you read on the Internet ! These are LIES LIES LIES!

Posted by Billy | October 2, 2012 4:54 PM

What else can you expect from these Tamil Tiger terrorists and their scumbag supporters? Their entire "cause" is grounded in lies; this sort of slander is just par for the course.

Posted by Ponniah | October 2, 2012 5:21 PM

Beware! Terrorist are terrorizing reputations on the Internet!

Posted by Donna G | October 2, 2012 5:34 PM

LOL. I'm so not surprised. Has anyone even read the lyrics to paper planes? She's insane! But bc it sounds "cool" & ppl want to be "rebellious" or a "badass" they sing along & praise this woman. The tigers are not good ppl! *sigh* W/e... People will continue to follow the hype. Its unfortunate DeLon had to be a victim.

Posted by Rizo | October 2, 2012 5:45 PM

Posted by Michael | October 2, 2012 8:26 PM

I personaly won a case against MIA where she made blatantly falsifying statements about Sri lanka in the verge of war in one of the British morning show . Not only The organizers aologized me and amended the picture and given a fair chance to Sri Lankan Government to express the truth where Mr. Palitha Kohona did well to reinstate the reputation of SL. Her life was full of scams but freedom of expressions should be a fair for any artist. Delon sacrificed his time and carreer for the sake of Sri Lanka. His rights as an artist should be established and upheld. It is unfortunate that he lost a great chance because of smear campaign.

Posted by Anonymus | October 2, 2012 10:44 PM

DeLon is a scum bag shedding crocodile tears for the war criminals and trying to get famous by demeaning a great artist MIA. MIA was never a member of LTTE. She is expressing the grievances of the oppressed minority Tamils in her own way. She has been trying to give some voice to the voiceless and draw the attention of the world to the injustice unleashed upon the oppressed minority Tamils in Sri Lanka.
LTTE was the outcome an oppressed nation. While LTTE has occasionally resorted to violence which deserves criticism, it is nothing compared to the state terrorism on its own citizens of the minority race, the Tamils
Sri Lankan Government has unleashed State Terrorism and has massacred innocent Tamil civilians and has driven them away from their home land. The world can see State terrorism by the Sri Lankan government in the documentary film released by the British Channel 4 TV –Sri Lanka’s killing fields ( This documentary used primarily the footages captured by the members of the SL forces as trophies.
The displaced Tamils who survived the war crimes committed by the Sri Lankan State are now being evicted from refugee camps, prevented from resettlement and are languishing despair in jungles.
The international aid given for the resettlement of the war victims is used by the SL state to colonize the Tamil areas with majority Sinhalese.
Now you can evaluate, if Mr. DeLon is a victim or opportunist trying to cover up the misdeeds of his own Sinhala Sri Lankan State Terrorists. What is needed is the international community to step in and bring the war criminals to face the judiciary and rescue the war victims from despair and death due to starvation.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2012 12:51 AM

If the minority was oppressed by the majority, why didn't they [minority] raise that issue 35 years ago?
Instead of doing that they sidelined with LTTE with the hope of getting EELAM. After its leader got wacked by mighty SL military, "certain sections" of the minority started crying. This whole story is not about a minority issue, but EELAM.

Posted by mahesh fernando from CA USA | October 3, 2012 1:55 AM

M.I.A. by any other name was and still is an LTTE supporter, a rebel without a clue of the situation at the time. Thanks to DeLon for calling a spade a spade!

Posted by MAH | October 3, 2012 2:30 AM

On "Americas Got Talent"?? Sounds like a corporate lying whore who would go with Sinhala Sri Lankan authoritarian State.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2012 3:19 AM

Anyone who thinks the cunning and manipulative MIA is great is as mad as she is. Delon is a super star compared to her. The LTTE the terrorists are known to stifle dissent either by the bullet or by threats . Now they have come across a new tool the internet to add to their smear campaign and lies.

Posted by KUMUDINI | October 3, 2012 4:08 AM

Tragedy. So wrong that a rumor can lead to such negativity and ill behavior. DeLon is a great artist with a positive message and he lives that positive life. Why is there always someone trying to talk bad about good people?!!! Miss Stirling was so wrong to cut him off. True friends look out and stand for one another. #realpeople #srilanka #delonmusic #do #the #right #thing #stanndup

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2012 4:59 AM

LTTE terrorism is dead in Sri Lanka along with the brutal so called leader brutal Prabha, but the pro LTTE Tamil Diaspora is trying desperately using all the means available to them to tarnish the image of Sri Lanka. They have conveniently forgotten how many innocent civilians & how many Tamil & Sinhalese intellectuals were murdeered by those brutal terrorists since 3 decades. Not only they were a curse for the country , they carried the Tamils to the stone age.MIA is desperately trying to portray a innocent picture to those brutal terrorists. Finally truth prevails. Delon you are single handedly doing an excellent job to protect the name of our mother country. We are with you

Posted by Ranjith | October 3, 2012 5:30 AM

It is great to see someone with the courage to stand up against the organised propaganda crimes of Tigers and their supporters.Keep fighting for the cause you believed son.The truth cannot be hidden always and it will come out one day.Wish you all the best.

We all know MIA is not a rapper at all. Any little girl @ 7th grade can sing like her. Whole world knows that that whore is a LTTE ass kisser. DeLon is a LTTE ass kicker tho.
Aswell now all the dreams of stupid tamilians have lost, somehow they looking for a revenge. But noone gives a shit. Poor tamil stupids
May be DeLon missed a tour, But he should know that whole Sri lankans standing with with him to what he had done.
