The Afghan Whigs wrapped up their run of New York shows with a sold-out gig at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday (10/6). It was a more stirring affair than any of their three previous shows this year with 1965‘s “The Slide Song,” “Neglekted” and “Omerta,” arguably three of the most soulful songs in their entire catalog, making their way into the set. They were complemented with covers of The Supremes and Frank Ocean as well as a slick version of “Citi Soleil” with Steve Myers, he of the excellent openers Mighty Fine, providing backing vocals. Reverend Vince Anderson and His Love Choir kicked off the night’s music.
