Django Django play Bowery Ballroom tonight, their first NYC show since visiting right before SXSW back in March. Tonight is sold out, but you can still get tickets to see them at Knitting Factory on Thursday (10/4).
BV faves Heliotropes play Glasslands tonight with Cloud Eater, Grandfather and Fan-Tan -- that sounds like a pretty good show!
Around the corner at Death by Audio, you can catch SISU which is Sandy from Dum Dum Girls (who just played Europa). The show also features the always fun Xray Eyeballs and Numerators. Also a really good show. SISU play NYC again at Glasslands on 10/10 with Grooms, Royal Baths and Punks on Mars.
'80s pop survivors Bananrama are performing at the Hard Rock Cafe tonight to help kick off the chain's "Pinktober" breast cancer awareness campaign. The video for Banarama's underrated single "Robert De Niro's Waiting" is below.

There should not be a band called Tennis
Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 2:44 PM
^So, should there be a band called Not Tennis?
Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 2:48 PM
^Get a "grip"! I "love" "tennis"! What band that you like that a "match" for them? Have you seen them live before, They cause quite a "Racquett"! Their "Set" is awesome! It is like they are from another planet like "venus" because there music is out of this world!
I think message boards are too anonymous. Lot of "Backhanded" comments. Some of these comments are even "Out of bounds"! I know to some of you it is "Game, Set, Match" but these bands are people too and have feelings!
Anyway I will see Tennis again and again because I have a "Ball" at their shows. I once saw them even perform in "Penn" Station! Ok I gotta "Bonuce"!

Oh, I have no idea what they sound like, It' just a shitty band name. I'd accept "Dennis" or "Tannis", the lost city near Cairo...

2:55 doesn't even understand puns.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 4:37 PM
Thanks 2:55 for the smart humor! It's obvious this went way over 3:10 head!
Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 4:53 PM
Looks like iPods guy has moved on to puns and serial self-referential posting now.
It's not an improvement, son. Both are fucking annoying like a tard kid doing the "mom ... mom .... mom .... mom .... mom .... mom ... mom ... mom ..." skirt pulling bullshit.
Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 5:03 PM
Let me guess 5:03 is 3:10! It's ok I hear you we're left back a few years!

Kind of like how 4:53 is also 4:28 and obviously 2:55 and a fop with thick-rimmed glasses and socially awkward especially around someone who doesn't exactly fit their pathetic excuse for a clique and also of course has trouble coping with the fact that most of the general population finds their oh so "smart", "clever" "humor" cheesier frutier than Rip Taylor's scarf during a mango festival. Awesome way to live there, "amirite" trendy boy?
Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 5:21 PM
Wow 3:10 is a dummy! Dumber than anything George w bush ever done and that's saying a lot (hint:and that's saying alot!)

Aw, cute Bananarama Vid!
Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2012 7:04 PM
5:21 PM Must be one of those St. Vitus clones who loves to keep that advanced grade school play ground tantrums going by himself.
My god how sad these comments have gotten.
Look back to a post from even just 2008 or 2009 on BV people had conversations about what they liked or not casually on a certain group.
Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2012 1:47 AM
It occurs to me--and bear with me here--that I should try and really get into Bananarama.
Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2012 2:06 AM
Everyone's laughing at his lameness? No, I'm laughing at the frowny baby in the picture and all of the people who take him and his band seriously.

Odd that Vernon Reid/Living Colour was not boldfaced in your write up and Melvin Gibbs never played for LC but Eye and I as well as Henry Rollins
