Activist and author Nick Cooney is on an 11-city "Compassionate Communities Tour" and is hosting a free workshop in Manhattan at 7pm.

Twi The Humble Feather play Manhattan Inn four Wednesdays this month including tonight.

Junip was supposed to play Le Poisson Rouge tonight but that show was cancelled.

Meanwhile, Le Poisson Rouge will host another good show tonight with John Zorn, Thurston Moore, Violent Femmes frontman Gordan Gano, and more.

Minneapolis' The Blind Shake, who were just terrific opening for Duchess Says last month, are back in town, playing Cake Shop tonight. They'll also play Death by Audio tomorrow (10/11).

Action Bronson plays two NYC shows tonight.

Swans plays Bowery Ballroom tonight with A Hawk and a Hacksaw. It's sold out but you can still get tickets to their 2 NYC shows with Devendra Banhart.
