Bettye LaVette, who is celebrating her 50th anniversary as a musician, is in the Midwest now and about to play two shows at the new City Winery Chicago, but after a stint across the pond, the soul singer will retire from the road for the year in middle December. The downtime won’t last too terribly long though; Bettye LaVette will play a pair of NYC shows in early January: 1/11 at City Winery (tickets) and 1/12 at Joe’s Pub (tickets).
