Blonde Redhead at Fun Fun Fun Fest 2011 (more by BBG)
Blonde Redhead

Long running NYC dream rockers Blonde Redhead were last seen repping NYC at the Brooklyn Sweden Festival on their 2012 international late summer/fall tour, but they haven't actually played a local show in over a year. So it should be a treat when the band rings in the new year with a show at Irving Plaza on New Year's Eve (12/31). Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (11/9) at 10 AM with Live Nation Mobile App, Live Nation, and Music Geeks presales starting Thursday (11/8) at 10 AM. VIP tickets include "front of the line access, VIP area in the balcony, poster, and champagne toast." It's the band's only announced show at the moment.

Blonde Redhead's most recent release was 2010's Penny Sparkle. A 4AD Session video of the band playing "Here Sometimes" from that album is below.

I'm sad that I no longer enjoy seeing them. Too many backing tracks, as of late. They used to be a great live band.

I agree. I wish they'd get rid of the backing tracks.

I also agree. I saw them open for Sleater Kinney in 2005 and it was one of the best shows ever. Seen them a few times since and it's pretty terrible... what happened?

I saw them in 1945... Life changing!
