Lou Reed at 2012 Tibet House benefit (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Lou Reed

Lou Reed was scheduled to play a NJ show at Bergen Performing Arts Center on Friday, December 8 before heading down to Miami for UR1 Festival, which was supposed to happen that weekend (12/8-9). However, the UR1 Festival was postponed due to predictions of heavy winds, and now that Lou has cancelled his NJ show. Whether the two are related or not, it's still a bummer to hear. If you bought tickets, refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Lou, who has been overseas promoting a book of photography with Laurie Anderson, also had to recently cancel a show in Madrid.

Still no word on the new dates for UR1 Festival, but stay tuned.

To everyone who complained about Neil Young not playing the hits, check out a Lou Reed show for ultimate disappointment.

Saw Lou a few years back and after a set of unrecognizable tunes. He "joked" about playing Sweet Jane only to NOT play it and perform another song that had the audience remainging in lackluster form.

I totally understand pulling out some rarities and lesser-known songs, but COME ON MAN! Playing an entire set of such deep cuts that have never seen the light of day is BS! You have a rich catalog of VU and awesome solo material, ENTERTAIN ME!

ps - Neil Young's set the other night was pretty awesome! Neil Young IS aweosme!

9:36 - With a few more behoovements like yours, I'd imagine Lou-Lou will totally rethink his approach to live performance.

I saw Lou Reed do his Broadway run in the 80s. Shit was a lot of fun, and he played a good 2 hours. That's how I want to remember Lou.

Lou is the worst live performer ever. At least since he became a solo artist.

VU = Pretty good, but not as good as the fauxhemians (young and old) would want you to believe.

Man I totally disagree. I'm sick of hearing sweet jane as I'm sure he's sick to death of playing it. Lou's appeal is that he doesn't conform. Lou's 'hits' are not his best songs. The VU stuff is never the same without the other VU members like Pink Floyd without Waters. Lou at his best: guitar cranked playing an out of key off the wall guitar solo.

Y'all haters should be happy now
but the haterade is never satisfying
Like Miller Lite, it only makes one more thirsty, the more one drinks
he stopped making music, that's not enough any more. He must be humiliated and completely unmade.
Reed will not be remembered for his music, that will be utterly eclipsed by how he discovered the perpetual motion engine fueled by all the incoherent hatred focused upon him
