Sky Ferreira @ Mercury Lounge, 11/29/2012
Sky Ferreira

Sky Ferreira played two shows in her new home of NYC this week, first at Glasslands on Wednesday (12/28) and then last night (12/29) at Mercury Lounge. With the power of a blinding light show and much-loved single "Everything Is Embarrassing," Sky played a short set (she's only got a couple EPs out) but, much as at CMJ earlier this year, won folks over with her ability to geniuinely, you know, sing. Apart from a show in DC tonight, Sky doesn't have any more tour dates on the horizon, perhaps plotting her next career move. More pics from Mercury Lounge below...

I've seen her live. She has a nice voice and her songs are good. But honestly, I still don't quite get it. She has no *soul.*

Very impressed by her, she sounds great in person, most artist nowdays are manufactured, this is real, and like the fact she can sing any style,Taylor Swift does't sing just one style not that Taylor is the best singer. There's always going to be haters..She is beautiful..this tiny girl with this amazing voice ..Ilove her!!!!!

Pretty much the textbook definition of "just stand there and look pretty."

Posted by Anonymous | December 4, 2012 1:33 PM

Well it's kind of hard to sing and move around in a fucking photograph.

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2012 12:56 AM

The whole band is super attractive

It must be super easy to be a music talent scout for a record label.

Apparently it's just looking at white chicks headshots.

damn, ugly people are mad

Posted by Anonymous | December 5, 2012 2:50 PM

i think this little tiny girl has an awesome voice. She can actually sing. She is a triple threat. Watch out for this girl.

Why does someone with so little music get so much attention and praise? Big deal, she's okay looking and can sing. Blown away that people are impressed that the band 'plays' live. Seriously? Is music in that sorry a state? This is disposable. There's no heart in this music.

so many label interns commenting on this thread haha

I bet she played a bunch of her new stuff, which is too bad. I really prefer her earlier work; it's a lot more introspective and experimental, kind of like a cross between Jeff Buckley and Diamanda Galas.

this girl has what it takes, my frens

I have no clue what kind of music she makes, nor do I care, but he needs to stop hanging out with Terry Richardson.
