As you may know, famed (and reclusive) musician Scott Walker has a new album, Bish Bosh, coming out next month on 4AD. A preview of the record was offered up last month and now the first full track has been released in the form of the music video for "Epizootics!" The strange, beautifully shot clip was directed by Olivier Groulx who has helmed videos by Human Highway and Cold Specks (who play Mercury Lounge tonight). You can watch the video below.
The song features an unusual instrument, the tubax, which is "'a combination of a tuba and a saxophone,' explains Scott in a press release, 'and there's only two in the country. It's a monster thing, you actually have to sit on the floor, it's enormous. But it means you can get below the bass, very very deep.'" You can read more about the making of Bish Bosch here.
The artwork for the album (which is at the top of this post) was done by painter Ben Farquharson who made numerous paintings of the letters comprising the album title and the song titles. Fifty pieces of these letters will randomly be distributed to those that who pre-order the album from 4AD.
Music video is below.
