Coldplay at Barclays Center - 12/30/12
Coldplay

Coldplay began their three-night New Year's run of the NYC area at Connecticut's Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday (12/29), and last night (12/30) they kicked off night 2 of the run, which was also the first of two Barclays Center shows. Their set at Barclays Center focused on mainly on Coldplay's 2011 album, Mylo Xyloto, and also included a good chunk of A Rush of Blood to the Head. The full setlist and pictures from last night are in this post.

Coldplay wrap up their run at Barclays Center tonight (12/31) (New Year's Eve) and tonight's show, unlike the others, is with Jay-Z. Tickets for tonight's show are still available.

Got my asshole tongued out by some twink last night. It was raw as fuck lol.

Didn't end up making it to this show, but I can say with certainty that it FUCKING SUCKED.

Great show as usual by Coldplay! Band sounded great and Chris Martin is a great frontman. The bracelet light show (each fan gets a bracelet that lights up during some songs) is the best concert light effect I have ever seen.

Wow one good song all night...Warning Sign

Where does one begin? The homemade douche suits? The randomly black opener for a bored white crowd? The fucking stage costumes? Good lord.

play "Spies" you wankers

I finally made it to Barclays for a Nets game. My seat was pretty good, so can't complain about the sight lines. Everything else sucks though. The seats are crammed in so there's no leg room. It's very steep. No big deal if you don't have a fear of heights, but some people have complained about this and I understand why. The massive fucking score board video screen thing is way way way too big. It's a distraction. Security is awful. They do the wand on everybody entering. Why? But the worst part of the game had to be the constant shitty music, mostly bad rap, played at volume 11.

The two guys in suits: Which one is 'bro' and which one is 'douche'?

Wow 11:51, I too am a morbidly obese shut-in Midwestern retiree! What are the odds?!?

On behalf of all the normal white people in Brooklyn (who are not zany transplants here for an extended vacation) I just want to apologize to the rest of the world for giving safe harbor to such clown shit on the verge of 2013.

Please do not judge us all based on these sad specimens.

Honest question -- why do people like Coldplay? It's like Radiohead lite for pre-teens as far as I can tell.

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 12:34 PM

12:34, add whiny U2 lite for post boomer moms too. Mine included.

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 12:38 PM

People like Coldplay bc they make pleasant music & they think Chris Martin is cute.

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 12:41 PM

Coldplay is music for people that hate music

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 1:24 PM

I won't enter the music debate-but the photos are GREAT!!!

12:34, 12:38, and 1:24,

The real question is why do you hate successful bands so much? At what record sale total do you turn on a band? Is is 50 or is it when they get too big to play Pianos?

Bands like U2 and Coldplay have massive followings that include people from all walks of life and that is actually a GOOD thing. It is sad you can't appreciate that because that is what makes these shows such a great experience.

If you don;t like then, that is fine. But don;t attack people who do because of their age, place they live, job, etc.

Good bands become big. That is what they all want to do. Even your little hipster darlings that play Arelene's every Tuesday want to be as big as Coldplay. You may not want to admit it, but it is true. Sorry to burst your impression.

U2 got big by trying to be good, Coldplay got big by trying to be big.

I cannot think of a single Coldplay song that would elicit such a response as this ...

>>Wow one good song all night...Warning Sign

I thought it was Politik, which they didn't even play!

Aren't their other people in the band besides the singer and lead guitarist? They get no BV photo love. And while we're on the topic of pics, howz about for 2013, we have less of the same looking ones in articles? Just a thought.

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 3:32 PM

Concert and light show was great.
SEATS SUCK!! Too small, no room to pass by other people, no leg room and too STEEP. I thought it was actually very dangerous.
Poor design without regard to ergonomics at all!

Posted by Anthony Flamini | December 31, 2012 4:42 PM

at least Chris martin looks like he's having fun

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 6:45 PM

I don't care how big a band is, U2 or Coldplay, the music is tepid at best. Boring as shit bands.

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 7:20 PM

i saw chris martin and his hot wife at mamouns early this morning. they actually sat at a booth and dipped pita triangles into a plate of hummus.

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 7:22 PM
