Leonard Cohen

Musical and poetic legend Leonard Cohen landed in NYC for his first of two shows here last night (12/18), when he played Madison Square Garden. He played a 29-song set with songs from his entire career -- classics like "Suzanne," "So Long, Marianne," "Bird on the Wire," and "Famous Blue Raincoat," his hugely iconic "Hallelujah," and some tracks off of his year end list appearing 2012 LP, Old Ideas, in addition to many more.

Leonard will do it again on Thursday (12/20) at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Tickets for that show are still available.

More pics and the setlist from last night, below...

Lots of empty seats, huh? Bummer.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 3:36 PM

Those were the 300 seats they couldn't sell off methinks. The rest of the arena was full save for those patches on either side.

300 dollar seats***

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 3:47 PM

Good to know. Thanks. How's your day?

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 3:50 PM

3:45 is wrong. There were plenty of other empty seats spread around the place. A lovely huge gap around where i was sitting.

Lots of cheap tickets outside as well.

Great show, bad sound. Leonard is the best.

That looks like the homeless guy who hangs around my corner. Suits not as dirty though.

No Jazz Police?

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 4:21 PM

Great setlist even without Jazz Police.

Yay Lenny is coming to BK.

LEONARD COHEN didn't rock Madison Square Garden last night , that was never the intention, but he damn well OWNED IT.

that picture with the empty seats was quite obviously taken BEFORE the show or at intermission. Clearly the house light are on in the back of the arena and people are standing around facing away from the stage. This does not represent 'empty seats' when the show was going on.

4:59 wrong, there were plenty of empty seats. Just stop it you idiots. We all love leonard but he did not come close to selling out either of these shows.

Also 4:46 you are an idiot

Love the pictures, nice job. That guitarist is the first seat looks like his identical brother. What's up?

Posted by Steve | December 19, 2012 5:09 PM

I'm not saying that there wren't plenty of empty seats come show time, but that picture posted here is not during show time and I can assure you it didn't look like that picture when the show was going on.

SHOW OF THE YEAR

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 6:57 PM

Should I get tickets for the Barclay's show? I kinda want to, and there are plenty available for cheap-ish. Setlist looks great.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 6:58 PM

Anybody know when the set time is tomorrow? What time did he go on last night?

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 7:25 PM

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 8:21 AM

Lots of filler. You have to wait until the 2nd encore to hear his only good song? Cash grab, obvs.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 8:38 AM

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 8:50 AM

he smell like a old man

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 8:59 AM

6:58, go. 8:38, yeah, right, the songs you were expecting in the first set? One good song? Troll-io-io

Does Leonard's backing band still sound like an over-polished world music group that belongs in Vegas or Disneyland?

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 10:49 AM

What old geezer is having a heart attack there in the first photo? Anyone? can we get a doctor in the house!?

Thanks for your great contribution to society 1:06...figuring out a way to sneak hate speech through BV's filter. You can die a happy man now.
