Merchandise at WIERD in September (more by Phil Maier)
Merchandise

We've got about two weeks to go and still more New Year's Eve options for NYC are getting announced every day. Just yesterday it was announced that Titus Andronicus are playing Glasslands that night (tickets) and now we just found out that Tampa post-punks Merchandise will be next door at 285 Kent with Arbutus Records-signed duo Tonstartssbandht and Vermont psych pop duo Blanche Blanche Blanche. (We're hoping Merchandise will have hired a drummer by then.) The bill also features "speciial guests," and we're not sure who the special guest is, but we couldn't help but notice they spelled "speciial" with two I's. Tickets for that show are on sale now.

A list of all Merchandise dates and a video below...

Stupid name for a band... Merchandise.
What's next? Groceries?

"Hi, we're Groceries, from Williamsburg"

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 5:24 PM

Groceries actually sounds like a pretty tight band name

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 5:25 PM

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 5:26 PM

Ii don't liike Diiv. Ii wiill not go to thiis show.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 5:30 PM

DIIV NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GO AWAY GO AWAY GO AWAY STOP PLAYING SHOWS

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 5:32 PM

i think the more shows diiv plays, the more rock n' roll is slowly, slowly dying. it's like every show they play and every shitty note they ring out on their guitars is like a little tiny hit on the hammer nailing the nail in the rock n' roll coffin.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 5:39 PM

plz play another date merchandiseeeeee plzzzzzz pllzzzzzz pretty pretty pretty plzzzz

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 5:40 PM

diiv should sell those retarded pantaloon / short / pants the singer wears as merch. i mean your music SOUNDS like shit but do you have to LOOK like shit too?

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 5:46 PM

who could possibly be excited about the prospect of seeing DIIV on NYE?

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 5:47 PM

5.26pm: watching the video, I can see how it would appeal to the Williamsburg Morrissey fan club... I heard you get a discount when you buy tickets for the show if you have an ironic mustache and you wear no socks.

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 5:47 PM

iif ii see diiv agaiin ii wiill puke

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 5:56 PM

Posted by bro | December 19, 2012 6:07 PM

6:01 is their suckup videographer and 6:06 is the bassist (who's commented defending them here before)

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 6:19 PM

pleaseeeeee get a drummer!

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 6:50 PM

You could stay home and listen to your Fugazi records. Or go find your local juke box and play Minor Threat.

Supporting post-punk music seems very Williamsburgesque

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 8:46 PM

isn't that a fugazi song?

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 8:48 PM

Devin from DIIV here (the "bassist"). I've never commented on BrooklynVegan defending myself/the band. If I were to post here, you would see the name as Serpent since I'm a tripfag. I actually adore all the negative comments about our band. I search Twitter once day, looking for people talking shit so I can retweet/favorite them all.

Now that that's clear, Groceries is a fantastic band name. Better than DIIV.

Posted by Serpent | December 19, 2012 9:43 PM

Go away Devin don't ruin everyone's good time

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2012 10:41 PM

i saw diiv on my tv and i thought they were pretty damn good

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 12:57 AM

Thanks for all the comments, haters. It really feeds our rock n roll fantasy!!!! Hold on, gotta go, Cole has to go teach me some killlllerrrr baselines. Someday me write DivE song alllll by myself! but not this day!!!!! cole can teach.

Posted by Serpent | December 20, 2012 9:40 AM

Posted by diiv | December 20, 2012 10:06 AM

I would also like to offer my support of diiv.

Posted by the guy who used to cut serpent's hair | December 20, 2012 10:49 AM

DiiV is good.
Merchandise on the other hand is not as good.
Horrible name, I prefer "Groceries". Genius to the man
who said that.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 10:50 AM

"the guy who used to cut serpent's hair," aka a personal acquaintance of the band, is one person besides the band themselves to offer them support. precisely my point. DIIV is the worst new band in years.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 10:56 AM

Dear 10:56, I never really cut his hair, and you really are daft. Turn on your sarcasm meter.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 11:31 AM

dear 11:31, you still know him

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 11:46 AM

No I don't - I don't even live in brooklyn! Jesus are you dumb.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 12:07 PM

or... you're not really dumb and you're pulling my leg, in which case, touche.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 12:08 PM

12:07 is not the guy who cuts serpent's hair, it's me, and it's at foxy's salon on graham ave, and i actually do know him, and step off, diiv is an OK at best band, no need for so much hate

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 12:38 PM

if merchandise got a real drummer and a new singer they might be pretty good

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 1:14 PM

blanche blanche blanches rulez live.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2012 2:13 PM

Merchandise got a real drummer at least.

Posted by parkx | December 20, 2012 8:02 PM

I get my hair cut by a Pisces in Toronto. I've never let a man touch my head. You guys are bugging. Also, my hair gets cut like once a year.

Posted by Serpent | December 21, 2012 5:55 PM

all coments are funny, i like it...

Posted by Anonymous | December 22, 2012 12:52 AM
