Orion Fest 2012 (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Orion

Metallica debuted their Orion Music & More festival in Atlantic City this year, which saw the legendary thrashers playing two of their albums in its entirety while a lot of indie/alternative rock bands (and also other metal bands) played throughout the day. The festival was great and we were excited to hear they'd be doing it again, however it's not going to be as close to NYC this time. They just announced that the 2013 festival will go down in Detroit, Michigan on June 8 and 9. More details TBA this February.

NO bamboozle or Orion fest in Jersey. Obviously the state needs every penny to rebuild but would these festivals not bring in money for the state?

Heavy metal in the city of heavy metal(lic automobiles).

It will be cheaper for attendees to just buy a house somewhere in Detroit rather than pay to camp or stay in a hotel.

Its perfect in michigan - this is the biggest white trash event of the year - maybe west virginia in 2014??

Glad to see this move to Detroit. We can plan a vacation in Chicago around it, and it will be much easier to get to than Atlantic City was this year.

Looking at the city, it's hard to guess where the venue will be. Comerica is out because the Tigers are in town, and Ford Field really isn't set up to handle 3 stages + all of the extras the fest had this year.

I hope they bring Lou Reed with them. Concert festivals are too predictable. With Lou Reed, Detroit would never be the same again.

Maybe ICP can bring their trashtival to the NJ shore

I predict John Brannon will sing "Nothing Else Matters" and the crowd will be overly bummed.

they're really gonna hafta pull out every conceivable gimmick to fill whatever venue used for this monstrosity--play kill 'em all in its entirety, have local heroes negative approach do a medley of 'master of puppets,' euthanize lars on stage, have a tent to insert kirk hammett-inspired hair plugs on your balding dome, and, of course, shoe-horn in the rolling stones. and they'll still find themselves millions in the red.

and 4:42pm is on point with detroit's economics. a basket case.

If they want to sell tickets they should probably get Grimes on the bill. The D loves Grimes.

I keep reading it as the Onion Festival...it would be more appropriate to be called the onion fest for two reasons..Metallica is a joke and they make people cry!
