Wook down - night 1 @ MSG
Phish wook

Phish kicked off their four-night, annual New Year's run at Madison Square Garden on Friday (12/28) and will wrap it up tonight, New Year's Eve. Tonight's show is sold out though naturally there are plenty on Stubhub for those willing to pay at least $265 each.

The setlists of the first three nights, which are expectedly very different from each other, include covers of Led Zeppelin, The Velvet Underground, TV on the Radio, Stevie Wonder, Talking Heads, and other artists. You can check them all out, along with few shots from the crowd from last night's show (by Robert Altman), below...

Phish LOL!

^ha yeah! Phish a band that has been hugely successful by building a fan base with word of mouth and tape trading without radio since 1983. HA PHISH INDEED!

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 1:43 PM

^ your mother built a good fanbase since 1983 via her mouth.

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 2:08 PM

^ boring. next?

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 2:12 PM

Phish trying hard to be the next Grateful Dead.

Hummus overdose!

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 3:02 PM

I've got no problem with Phish, their music isn't for me, but BOY do I hate 98% of their fanbase!

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 3:06 PM

Love the music, hate the fans.

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 3:17 PM

^you could say this about almost any band

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 3:18 PM

^or NY team

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 3:25 PM

I love the hummus, but hate the pita triangle.

I for one love my Mets and share a special bond with 98% of my commiserating cohort of brother and sister Mets fans. So there 3:25. But I would agree that would apply aptly to Philthydelfia. Those fans are 100% assholes.

I see a fair range of the bands on this blog (e.g. in 2012: Lolla, David Byrne/St. Vincent, Divine Fits, The Raveonettes, El-P, Flying Lotus, Radiohead etc.)

Nothing is quite like a live Phish show. Nothing. Phish achieve these moments of bliss that no band can replicate. And that's just one of the many things I love about Phish shows.

That picture is from BEFORE the concert started

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 6:50 PM

i heard phish will not allow drugs, alcohol or 10 year old girls backstage.

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 7:25 PM

4:51 funny, as though every sports fan isn't identical to every other.

Posted by Anonymous | December 31, 2012 8:55 PM

Shows were epic. Boogie On Reggae Woman, Suzy and 46 Days from 12/29 were f'ing amazing.

Thank God for Phish. We now live in a world where simply coming out of the closet via mediocre R&B music can land you on 1000 Top Albums of Year lists. Phish is a reminder that there is still some good left out there. That the hipsters and their irony and sarcasm and fucking bullshit have not fully taken over. That 20,000+ people can get together for four nights, let loose, not give a fuck about how they look while they're dancing and appreciate the shit out of some ridiculously talented musicians.
