Smashing Pumpkins @ Barclays Center, 12/10/2012
Smashing Pumpkins

Smashing Pumpkins played their first-ever show in Brooklyn on Monday night (12/10), lighting up the Barclays Center. It was a rescheduled date and was originally supposed to happen on Halloween but Hurricane Sandy had other plans for NYC that week. The band sold special $25 dollar tickets to the show where a portion of the proceeds went to Sandy relief.

Against projections cast on a giant white orb that would strike fear in Patrick McGoohan, Billy Corgan and crew ripped through the entirety of SP's new Oceania LP before coming back for a set of "classics," though the more casual fans in the audience may have been dismayed to find them not play "Today" or "1979."

More pictures from Barclays Center and the playlist are below.

Grandpa is looking fat

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 6:48 PM

Maybe if they threw donuts on the stage he would have sang "Today is the greatest day I've ever known."

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 6:49 PM

This looks like FUN ! ! !

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 6:52 PM

Awful setlist. Glad I didn't go to this shitshow.

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 6:56 PM

The guitarist looks like Gomer Pyle. Gollllllyyyyyy.

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 6:57 PM

From the first few pictures, it looks like there were a lot of empty seats......

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 6:58 PM

Billy CorGUT!

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 6:58 PM

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 7:03 PM

I won.

Posted by Malkmus(!) | December 11, 2012 7:03 PM

It's been said before, but someone really needs to edit the photos on BV, that are posted about the shows. The photos are good, don't get my wrong, but always way too many!

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 7:11 PM

Fat Billy needs to update his wardrobe - his 1994 ensemble ain't fitting like it used to

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 7:15 PM

there had to be what, 16,000 empty seats there?

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 7:17 PM

so...no longer a little boy.

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 7:24 PM

Setlist is godawful. Call me when he's doing all of Melon Collie straight through.

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 7:29 PM

Best. Concert. Ever. Hands. Down.

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 7:31 PM

I quoted "1979" in my high school yearbook. #ClassOf1996

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 7:38 PM

terrible. wich i could get a refund.

Posted by Daryl | December 11, 2012 7:44 PM

Corgan & Co have put on one of the best tours of the year and all you can comment on is Billy's gut? You people are pathetic.

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 7:45 PM

The set list was exceptional. Best concert I've ever seen (and that says a lot).

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 8:11 PM

7:31, 7:45 and 8:11

WORST TROLLING EVER

Get back to work dummies.

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 8:28 PM

Sad, so sad. You can't fill up an arean anymore even with dirt cheap tickets and then this picture

Oh Billy, where did it all go wrong?

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 8:32 PM

If you paid 25$, you got a great bargain. If you paid full price, you got ripped the fuck off.

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 8:36 PM

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 9:16 PM

7:03--Yes, a few cheap shots about the weight, but no one on this site made this washed up hack wear a two-sizes-too-small shirt. If ever there was a visual metaphor for the bloated-ness that is this band's music, these photos are it.

Posted by Tod | December 11, 2012 9:30 PM

Oh William. The namesake of the burgers we all love 'round here. You, my dear, have not worn well with age.

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 9:37 PM

>> f you paid 25$, you got a great bargain. If you paid full price, you got ripped the fuck off.

I will tell you who got "ripped the fuck off". Your parents. For that shitty education.

It's $25. Not 25$.

Dumb. dumb. dumb ... ASS!

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 9:39 PM

terrible show. wish i could get refund

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 10:02 PM

great show. wish i could have paid more money for it

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 10:10 PM

i get more excitement out of seeing james iha walk his pugs when he leaves his apartment.

Posted by d | December 11, 2012 10:14 PM

Billy Corgan, career douchbag

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 10:19 PM

For me it was worth the $35 (Ticketmaster charges) to see the few hits and the bowie cover.

Their new album sounded like planetarium music with lots of guitar solos.

Posted by Ron | December 11, 2012 10:27 PM

Crowd was lame and energy was so bleh. I went because SP is one of my faves, but I will not be going to see them ever again.... Unlike DEPECHE MODE, who are way older and I was up in nosebleeds in MSG.

Was it just me or was the sound volume super low!?!

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 11:02 PM

The show was decent. Worth about $25 and the chance to explore the new arena. It was better than staying at home and watching "the Voice" -- which is how every negative commenter here spent Monday night.

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2012 11:50 PM

I can't believe I am going to say this, but TOO MANY PHOTOS!

" It was better than staying at home and watching "the Voice" -- which is how every negative commenter here spent Monday night."

You are a fucking fool

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2012 12:16 AM

I can't take these comments seriously. Too many spelling errors

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2012 12:23 AM

still better than Pavement. At least Billy want to move forward

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2012 12:25 AM

No one cares about spelling in the real world. You know who cares about grammar, spelling and where dollar signs go? Nerds. Go back to Reddit.

Posted by Jezebel in Johannesburg | December 12, 2012 4:49 AM

Barclays is not as good as MSG. That much is certain.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2012 4:52 AM

When did Daniel Johnston join SP?

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2012 6:23 AM

If barclays isn't as good as msg it must be TERRIBLE because MSG isn't good to begin with. I'd rather go to izod.

12:25, if Malkmus stopped making solo records and decided to form an entirely new group and call it "Pavement," then you could make comparisons.

Melancholy Due To Infinite Fatness

12:25, if Dunkin' stopped making Donuts and decided to form an entirely new pastry and call it "Corgan Creme," then you could eat them.

i used to love this band, now humour is all i have left...

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2012 12:16 PM

12:12 - don't be embarrassed. just start a rumor that it was really Matt Pinfield up on stage.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2012 12:54 PM

It's funny because the last two photos were actually taken during the show.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2012 1:17 PM

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2012 3:11 PM
